Bradshaw puts off retirement

In January, during the run-up to the Giants-Patriots Super Bowl, Fox's Terry Bradshaw said he was nearing the end of his television career. Bradshaw said he would retire when his Fox "NFL Sunday" contract expires. "I see the energy and the enthusiasm these young guys (who get into broadcasting) have and I think it's time to hang it up," Bradshaw said. Now, with some down time, and a chance to reflect while distancing himself from the regular-season grind, Bradshaw has changed his mind. "I'm going to do it (the Fox pregame) as long as I can. I don't want to retire," Bradshaw told me. "I just see too many people retire and say, 'I'm going to take off, travel, spend time with my family' and they are just miserable. They end up dying. People who work and stay active, and like what they are doing, live longer. I look forward to doing the show."

Speaking of programming, nice original thought, moron.

June 29, 2008  11:34 AM ET

Personally, I hope Terry stays as a member of Fox 'NFL Sunday' until the end of never.

Hey there Lady, Whatinthehell is all that nonsense above us? That's some serious verbal diahrea, eh? I wonder if the winkstrap person passed out after getting that mess typed out.

June 29, 2008  11:43 AM ET

I think Winkstrap learned how to copy and paste and spent a lot of time putting other people's thoughts in his post. But I can live with his passing out, too, if that's the case.

as for Terry, looking forward to the day that contract ends. once you become a charicature of yourself its time to go away....and that was 6 -8 years agi,

June 29, 2008  12:37 PM ET

I am surprised that Fox didn't give him the boot after admitting to steriod usage during his playing career, but to each its own, good luck Terry!

June 29, 2008  12:49 PM ET

Fox has to keep Terry, he's the comic relief.

June 29, 2008  12:53 PM ET

Don't tell anyone this..........i don't like baseball.
As for the RedSox fans, RSB is hosting a pool party, I don't know where becca went.
HA went to the Astros game and I'm thinking about lunch.

June 29, 2008  12:57 PM ET

See ya localboy. Have a good one.

June 29, 2008  02:51 PM ET

I hope they keep Bradshaw... eh not (in my Borat voice)

June 29, 2008  02:57 PM ET

So he will keep working only so he can live longer. Not a good reason.

June 29, 2008  03:28 PM ET

What in the world are r ya'll talking about up there? This is sports, not politics. If you want to talk political go to CNN or Fox or somewhere please!! I'm into sports to get away from all that other crap!!!

Ha ha you Pats haters and conservatives!!! 3 deserved and hard-earned Super Bowls and same sex marriage to boot and you cannot take them away from us!!!!!!!!!!

So what if we cheated? | 06/28/08, 09:32 PM

I am not a Pats fan, but I would say that winning three Super Bowls in four years and having your playoff loses come against teams that won the Super Bowl as being pretty impressive. How many teams have won 18 games in one season other than New England? The answer: None. Again, I am not a Pats fan, but New England but they are a damned good team. As for the cheating thing, everyone was doing that, so it really did not amount much.

Back on steroids will he need to go. Let him keep up with those young broadcasters, they will. Like Regis Philbin will he be.

June 29, 2008  05:50 PM ET

Bradshaw is good but for me the best part of Fox's NFL show is Howie Long. Bradshaw is more enthusiatic and entertaining but Long is so smart and comes off better than you would imagine before the show starts.

June 29, 2008  05:51 PM ET

On another note I really liked Shannon Sharpe and Marino on the CBS show until they got Bill Cowher last year.
