The University of Georgia's beloved and Churchillian English bulldog mascot Uga VI died peacefully Friday night in Savannah of congestive heart failure after serving nine seasons on the sidelines as the Bulldogs' winningest mascot. Uga VI, owned by Savannah attorney Frank W. "Sonny" Seiler, was the heaviest in the line of six solid-white English bulldogs to serve as UGA's mascot since Uga I became a Georgia football game fixture in 1956.

The aforementioned may have revived him.

It was more Fresno State's Cinderella run to beat Georgia in the best of three of the College World Series that did him in.

4vr,

We all know that the SEC has OSU's number.

Sad to see the dog go but I am sure he led a very distinguished and fun filled life. And it's too bad he won't be around to piss all over Brutus.

What's the process of finding a new mascot or was one in place prior to his death for insurance reason?

i m just messin .. he looks like a fine dog... RIP UGA.... im sure that georiga would be a hand full....

The Warden throwing his fellow big-tens men under the bus. You beat an SEC team and you feel high and mighty. Pretty much saved your season, Buddy. Took you all year to have some kind of respectability after losing to Appalachian State. Remember that.

June 29, 2008  12:19 PM ET

I think it's funny to see an OSU chump fan talk like Georgia is the team in trouble. How has OSU fared against SEC teams? Exactly. And, it hasn't even been close.

June 29, 2008  01:09 PM ET

Crean N Crimson,

The SEC is a powerhouse. Alabama proved it when it bent over and took it in the rear when playing Louisiana Monroe in Alabama.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people rag on App St as if they are some rinky dink team. ASU would have given many top 25 teams last year a headache. Are you guys forgetting they are the 3X in a row Sub division Bowl champs?

It will be interesting to see how LSU does against ASU this year. And I can tell you one thing, you can bet your skid marked stained undies that, with exception of ASU, you won't find many SEC teams lining up to schedule ASU. I think you know why they won't but then again, if you are like many on this board, it might take a couple people to explain it to you before you understand.

Dude first of all I opened this thread with the complete expectation that people would not be talking crap about our dearly departed mascot, and of course I was wrong. I never cease to be amazed by the immaturaty and pure ingorance of some of the people on here, Royal I wish you a dark day in hell my friend, Warden thanks for sticking up for UGA VI, he will be missed.

To awnser your question about replacing him, one family has been raising the Georgia Mascots for almost 40 years now and yes I am proud to say UGA VII is ready to go.

June 29, 2008  01:10 PM ET

oops, edit "with exception of ASU" to read "with exception of LSU"

June 29, 2008  01:12 PM ET

Isn't this about a dog that died? I own Bulldogs, the best dogs I've ever owned, this guy will be missed. But, the next one will fill the void quickly
Guys, try to stay on topic. Or, take your meds before typing

The one question is if UGA "had his day?"

And are the mascots always males?

btw, huge dog lover with exception of most toy dogs. Havanese are the exception.

June 29, 2008  01:46 PM ET

He was a dam good dog. He will be missed.

Let's keep from spewing anymore Big 10 or College World Series crap on here. Alright? thanks.

June 29, 2008  02:06 PM ET

Oh well. How about all the dogs in shelters getting euthanized and thrown in dumpsters? Thats what should be the big deal.

June 29, 2008  02:19 PM ET

Maybe he got a load of himself in the mirror. ("Congestive heart failure"? Not like he had a stressful life. What, he went to sleep with a cigarette and a bottle and a box of Doggie Bon Bons every night? Jeez.)

June 29, 2008  05:31 PM ET

In dogs years, 6300 years old I am.

June 29, 2008  06:01 PM ET

Damn good dawg! He shall be missed... and his last football game was Georgia's complete dismantling of on overrated Hawaii team in the Sugar Bowl. 41-10.

June 29, 2008  10:40 PM ET

"It will be interesting to see how LSU does against ASU this year."

LSU doesn't play ASU this season, you must be thinking of UGA

June 30, 2008  12:01 AM ET

In regards to the mascot. RIP UGA, you earned it. As for the football team. I don't think Hawaii was as over-rated as you think Billso. Georgia was playing better than anyone else in the country at the end of the season. In fact I think they were the best team in November -January. The problem was with no playoff in major college football, they did not have a chance to prove it.

What I do know is if Hawaii is 12-0 or 13-0 this season they will have earned it. Florida, Oregon St, Washington St and Cincy are a significant non-conference upgrade from a pair of IAA (that were a combined 6-17), Washington and UNLV.
