Law eyes Browns, Jets, Pats

Cornerback Ty Law could have done what has come naturally over 13 NFL seasons. Much like he's jumped a pass pattern to corral an interception, Law could have made a quick move earlier this offseason. Instead, he's dropped back and assessed the action in front of him. Law visited the Jets, and has had phone discussions with Bill Belichick in New England and Romeo Crennel in Cleveland. The Browns would seemingly be the perfect landing spot. But general manager Phil Savage has said the Browns don't have much room in their budget. Of course, that could always change if the team gets to training camp and realizes a cornerback of Law's ilk might indeed be the final piece to make a legitimate run at the AFC championship. So, for now, Law waits and works out.

Phil, find the change to sign this cat - our secondary's pitiful right now...

Boy could the Browns use this guy. Not only to play, but to mentor the young prospects that we do have.

June 30, 2008  08:26 AM ET

Yes, the Browns could use him but you guys have already spent a TON in free agency. Somebody please unplug Joe Cribbs' alarm clock the morning of both Browns-Steeler games. I am convinced Steeler special teams is not capable of tackling the man. Just thought I would say it before he embarrasses our not-so special teams again

I would like to know those " offers" he turned down. I doubt they were for more than a year guaranteed. He would be nice insurance for a team , but no one is going to give him starter CB money now.
If he really wants to play , he is going to have to swallow his ego and take a cut.

June 30, 2008  09:33 AM ET

Ty Law made 5 million last year. It is about the money. He will have to settle for a lot less this year.

June 30, 2008  11:17 AM ET

We (Browns) could use him, our secondary is terrible. Just like it's been for the past 3 years. If we could stop the pass, we would have a legitimate shot at winning the AFC. We can score with best of em, we just don't make stops, especially when we need them the most.

June 30, 2008  12:06 PM ET

Oh please not the Jets. We have been down this road before. Go to the Browns.

As is the majority of your team. Let the Bengals/Browns rivalry talk start now!

June 30, 2008  12:32 PM ET

hey Apocolyptica, will you pleeeease give it a rest. i am not eban a Pats fan and am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of your constants "Spygate" comments. let it go man or at least get a life!

June 30, 2008  12:38 PM ET

Anyone with legs (maybe even 1) that says they can play CB should be looked at by the Browns. It is the only thing keeping them away from seriously contending this season. Throw in the brutal schedule and they'll need depth!!

June 30, 2008  12:44 PM ET

After 13 years you have to think that he has lost a step or two but I wouldn't bet against him. The Browns would be a great fit but the question is can they get him to come for an incentive-laden contract like the Pats offered Washington and Stallworth last season.

June 30, 2008  01:45 PM ET

Hey Lucic for President - the offensive plays come in over the Qb's headset. Get over it, the Rams lost the game, the Patriots lost this year. That's football.

June 30, 2008  03:02 PM ET

He should come to the Giants we'll love you here law very much!

June 30, 2008  03:39 PM ET
