Garcia hinting at Bucs holdout

Jeff Garcia is seeking a contract extension that will bring his total payout in line with that of other starting quarterbacks around the league. Talks aimed at accommodating him have been held but have dragged, according to Garcia. Unlike Earnest Graham, Garcia participated regularly in the Bucs' offseason workout program. He has, however, hinted at the possibility of a training camp holdout, should his contract demands not be met.

The Bucs need to pay this guy! Of all twelve QB's they have, Garcia is the only one worth the loot. Gruden is a team killer!

Agreed. Its not like hes asking to be the highest paid quarterback in the league. Garcia is the ultimate team player and wants to win and deserves a pay raise.

Anyone else think Garcia looks like a burn victim?

Great QB...but beat with the Ugly 2x4...thats for sure.

Im glad T&R uses a shot of Garcia with his helmet on....

The Bucs need to just give the man the money....

With the shortage of decent QB's in the league, who else would they play that will give them the level of play and success they need to win?

June 30, 2008  10:41 AM ET

The Bucs should pay him, but Garcia has been threatening holdout all summer.....he needs to stop with the whining and show his dedication to the team by being in camp.

The Bucs should let Garcia go and let Simms play. They drafted Simms with the intention of making him the franchise QB. You can't just say "well, he hasn't worked out" because he hasn't been given enough playing time. If you expect a QB to be good, you have to throw him to the dogs on the field and see if he survives. You have to go at leat a full season with him. All Garcia is good for at this point in his career is being a band-aid player, keeping the team afloat while the normal starting QB is nursing his injuries. He's not going to lead a team to the Super Bowl anytime soon, so the Bucs can afford to lose him.

Did ANY of you Garcia fans see him in the playoffs?
You can run but you can't hide.
We all know the QB situation is slim all around,
Honor your contract and pull up numbers,
WIN a Playoff Game and $$$ will roll in!

Bucs hinting at Garcia pay holdout!

Dear Jeff - "I'm soo glad we had this time together just laugh and maybe sing a song - seems you just got started and before you know it comes the time to say soo long" !!!
Sincerely, Bucs Management

I'd rather see the Simms kid before this flash in the pan type..he did a decent job in Philly because everyone knew McNabb was the starter, so teams prepared for Mc Nabb, not Garcia..he just lucked up and took advantage of a situation, as he should..but the reality is that Garcia is at best, a quality back-up...

Jeff Garcia has never gotten any respect. I think it's because he comes off as effeminate. But his wife is gorgeous and all he does is improve the teams he's on.

Did you know he owns a lot of the 49ers single season records? I hear they used to have some decent guys tossing footballs around there.

Let Chris Simms play at least two full seasons. Then decide whether or not he's a bust.

I always applauded Garcia when he played for the Lions, he always played with a desire of a man half his age. I didn't like how he came embedded with Mariucci when he took over the team. Nobody wanted Joey, Mooch wanted SF part II.

I think Garcia has a year or two more then his tank will run out of gas. You can only take so many contract holdouts and washed up Playboy hookers!
