D'Antoni admits Knicks trade talks

Mike D'Antoni supported David Lee, saying he would "love" to coach him next season but admitted Lee is the subject of trade talks. Unrestricted free agent Beno Udrih of Sacramento, Golden State restricted free agent Monta Ellis and Raymond Felton are their top point guard targets, but that may be shooting too high, considering the Knicks' new cap restrictions. Trade options include the Bulls' Kirk Hinrich and Memphis' Mike Conley and Kyle Lowry. D'Antoni doesn't consider Nate Robinson a true point guard.

No. 1. The knicks are stuck with overrated, overpayed and players who just suck. No teams would be interested on those players. They're not even expiring contracts. Ayayayay

Walsh and D'Antoni might be able to dump Randolph on another team closer to 2010 when his contract is almost at its end. Surely there will be someone out there who thinks its worth taking a chance on a guy with his skills when there's just a year left on his contract. Use him as a reserve, or to bolster an already strong front line and it might be a gamble worth taking.

It's a shame Lee is on the market - He's one of the few guys who works hsrd and produces results on that roster.

Just as long as Isiah is there the Knicks will continue to suck. Isiah's new job is being a puppet master. He controls all of them from his living room.

Trade the entire team. Robinson and Lee are the only players with any heart. I would love if the knicks brought in Kirk Hinrich, he would be such a bust in NY. Actually, he's pretty much a bust already at this point and that is why the Bulls have been shopping him and his huge contract 24/7.

Isiah is gone. You're delusional, but very, very funny.

the Knicks are two years away from the playoffs and three years away from any serious basketball discussion. Hopefully, we'll all live long enough to see them get good again.

A one year turnaround would require that they get King James in 2010.

July 1, 2008  10:16 AM ET

I thought the Italian Stallion was going to fuel the Knicks' big turnaround.

July 1, 2008  11:02 AM ET

Knicks are perhaps the worst team in the history of the NBA. Certainly, based on the money, they get that title hands down.

July 1, 2008  12:33 PM ET

good luck getting ellis.

Charlotte general manager Rod Higgins said there's "no truth" to the report indicating the Bobcats are in discussion with the Knicks about trading Felton for David Lee, the Charlotte Observer reports. Whatever happens, expect the Knicks to do the wrong thing. Why didn't they draft a point guard if they considered that a priority? Oh, excuse me, they wanted the Italian Stallion.

I agree. the precedence is there-
Rasheed had a WORSE rep than Randolph & was traded.......he helped get Detroit a title

By the way-
WE DON'T NEED backup point gurads.........we need player that are not FAT & LAZY

The Knicks should start with a small forward who can score the ball. Next year Nash will be available, perhaps he'd be willing to play in NY.

Which PG was stil on boards at the time the Knicks drafted? Gordon? Bayless? Those are scorers...
Gallinari was far the best prospect at the 6th pick...
I like Lowry, but what if NY lands Baron Davis?

July 1, 2008  01:08 PM ET

David Lee and Nate Robinson for Raymond Felton and Jared Dudley. That would work out for both teams.

July 1, 2008  01:31 PM ET

Look Walsh 2nd move was to draft the same player Isiah when overseas to see. Isiah could have move Zach

July 1, 2008  02:07 PM ET

Hllywd,

I just read your Ray-Lew blog.

Good stuff. Too bad he didn't want to play for the money they offered (which was really low compared to Collins). He would have made a great pro.

Let's face it King James is not coming to NYK. The Cav's give him help last year that is what he has been asking for and he got more help then he ever got before. start building a good team look at Portland

An policeman's moustache he has!

new york needs a real PG, not udrih or ellis. felton or lowry would fit the description, and mike conley would be a great option, but the knicks would be crazy to trade david lee for any of them right now without also finding a way to dump zach randolph.
