Knicks target Bulls point guard

Posted: Tuesday July 01, 2008 07:03AM ET

Looking to add a point guard on the cheap, the Knicks went into the start of free agency at 12:01 a.m. Monday targeting Chris Duhon, who has been a backup with the Bulls during his first four NBA seasons. The Knicks are expected to offer Duhon a two-year deal worth roughly half of the mid-level exception, totaling around $6 million, according to NBA sources. A playmaker who has struggled with his shooting going all the way back to his days at Duke, Duhon averaged 5.8 points on 39% last season for the Bulls.

This makes sense for NY! Add another point guard that cant shoot!
Thought isiah and has money wasting days were behind the knicks!

I read a lot of message boards and fans of other teams really like Duhon its funny that fans of the Bulls don't like him.

i don't even like this guy as a backup PG guard.....he's do-do. they need to keep lookin. felton is a better option than this guy

Report Offensive Comment

Duhon is another one of those Duke products that accomplish nothing in the NBA

Report Offensive Comment

AL_CHeese, I agree Felton is more of a pure point who wouldn't cost the Knicks much more than they are looking to sign Duhon for. I don't think Duhon is that bad of a guard though in the right system.

Report Offensive Comment

Duhon will perfectly into the knicks way of underachieving. The knicks are idiots.

Report Offensive Comment

Thats because those that say they don`t like him are not Bull fans at all.....

I tell you what, if the Knicks need a point guard, they could trade some big men to Memphis one or two of the five that we have...I'm just saying...

But that actually makes sense!! And how can NY do something that would make sense?? Go get some coffee bro!!

Report Offensive Comment

Why?? You've already got plenty of low potential players on your roster. Why add another?

Report Offensive Comment

Chris Duhon is solid, but he's a backup point guard. If you want to replace Stephon, you would need to do better then Duhon.

jptipton has a point. I would definitely be on the phone with Memphis. I'm sure David Lee and other considerations is enough to get Lowry or Conley.

Report Offensive Comment

I think Nate Robinson is better than Chris Duhon, seriously. The Knicks should be after Conley or Felton. End of story.

Report Offensive Comment

Duhon kind of sucks, can't really play d, can't shoot, can't penetrate, can't show up on time. Why would the Knicks want......

Wait a second, answered my own question.

Duke + Mediocre colleger career = Bad NBA career

The be respectable, the Knicks first need to trade, cut or otherwise clear the dead weight of guys like Stephon Marbury. Give them a buyout check and tell them to make like Michael Jackson and "Beat It."

The Knicks need a few character guys, some hustle guys, and some leaders. Will Duhon fit that bill? I don't know. But even if they get very little back, they've got to flush the turds they have.

If I may quote Henny Youngman, "Take my point guard, please."
