Cowboys seek staggering PSLs

The New York Giants unveiled the pricing structure for their new stadium, which will open in 2010. Capacity will be 82,500, and every seat will be tied to a personal seat license (PSL). That's a one-time payment by a season-ticket holder for the right to purchase a game ticket. The PSLs will range from $1,000 to $20,000 per seat. The Giants said PSLs were necessary to help finance the $1.6 billion project. The Giants said fewer than 5,000 seats in the new stadium will command that $20,000 PSL, and that 90 percent of the tickets in the upper deck will carry a $1,000 PSL. Contrast that to the Cowboys, whose new 80,000-seat stadium opens in 2009. The Cowboys also decided seat licenses were necessary to help finance their $1.1 billion project. Their seat licenses range from $2,000 to $150,000.

Ouch !!!!
The common man will not be able to attend any games!!!!

July 1, 2008  07:43 AM ET

There goes my hope of going to a Cowboys game anytime in the next 50 years.

July 1, 2008  07:47 AM ET

It's Dallas. Everything's bigger. I went by the stadium on Sunday. Man, what a wonder of engineering and architecture. It's going to be beautiful. My question though, I don't see a lot of areas to put all that parking in.

July 1, 2008  07:50 AM ET

Go Green Hooah. Ride your stallion to the game.
Not being from Texas I have to ask this question. What the hell keeps the cowboy hat on the head of a bronco rider? It never comes off after 10 secs of being thrown around.

July 1, 2008  08:08 AM ET

I guess you get what you pay for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 1, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Welcome to the future of the NFL. It will go the way of the NBA. A very wealthy privileged class will be able to attend games and get good seats. Oh, and did I mention the the corporate seats that will be there for " valued " customers?

My question though, I don't see a lot of areas to put all that parking in.

Hooah05!! | 07/01/08

what the hell do they need parking for? the only ones that can afford to go will be arriving in Limo's..
MAN, talk about putting the screws to the real fans

July 1, 2008  08:36 AM ET

wow boy fans...pay all that dough to watch a team loose.....
O well you can always TEXT the NYG fans going through
same thing...

July 1, 2008  08:38 AM ET

Would like to poke my finger in that eye.

July 1, 2008  08:39 AM ET

This is the kind of thing they build just before a depression.

July 1, 2008  08:47 AM ET

I just got an email that said the stadium designers were smart not including parking; after the election, nobody will be able to afford gasoline.

July 1, 2008  08:54 AM ET

A blue-collar sport too expensive for the blue-collar fan. When does it stop? I might root for the NFL team that has the least amount of luxury suites.

July 1, 2008  08:59 AM ET

Well, looks like my dream of one day attending a game hosted by my favorite NFL team will never come true. I'm better off getting tickets to the cheap seats in my Madden "Create-A-Stadium". That way I can at least remain a true fan.

Screw Jerry Jones if that's the route he wants to take. The NFL is going to lose it's luster very quickly by going the route of PSL's ... which I feel is very un-American btw, to charge someone an outlandish price just for the RIGHT to purchase a stupid ticket to a game.

July 1, 2008  09:02 AM ET

Hey Cowboy fans...I buried Santana Moss's jersey in your new stadium.

July 1, 2008  09:06 AM ET

There's no need for parking. If you can afford a $150K PSL, you just need a landing deck for you helicopter to drop you off and pick you up once the game is over.

July 1, 2008  09:06 AM ET

All I can say is, "Thank God for HDTV because I won't be affording tickets." I don't care if it is the Cowboys, Mavs or Stars. All sports have gone up so much that the common person can't afford to go. When they built the new American Airlines here in Dallas for the Stars and Mavs my seats (I would go now and then) quadrupled in price and my seat was 3 times as far away as before. I really felt for the season ticket holders. Since then I have bought one of the best HDTVs around and plan on saving the money and enjoying it the best way I can afford.

July 1, 2008  09:13 AM ET

D-A-M-N!! That is A LOT of money.......do you have your own bathroom, or are there only pay toilets? :-)

July 1, 2008  09:14 AM ET

The problem is not just the Cowboys. There are still fans who will pay this amount just to see the new staduim and root for their team. Some fans will constantly let their teams screw them and will still be in the stands. If people were really mad they would stop buying tickets and make the Cowboys & Giants drop the price. As long as their is demand they will keep pushing the envelope. Bottom line, if people are that outraged just stop supporting the team by buying tickets. Like someone else said, just watch it on TV.

July 1, 2008  09:16 AM ET

Jessica Simpson just bought her seats.

July 1, 2008  09:32 AM ET

the NFL is no longer for the common man ... actually all pro sports are. Most people watch it on TV anyway.
