Shanahan may sign with Devils

A free agent at noon today, Brendan Shanahan isn't going to glue a Bluetooth to his ear in anticipation of the call that probably won't come from the Blueshirts. Rather, The Post has been told to expect the 39-year-old winger to go home again - home to New Jersey to complete the circle of his first-ballot worthy Hall of Fame career that commenced with the Devils in 1987-88. If Shanahan does indeed rejoin the Devils, for whom he played from 1987 through 1992, before going to St. Louis as a free agent, he would be expected to improve a power play that was ranked 25th overall last season while likely skating right wing at even strength with either John Madden or Travis Zajac.

They still won't win the cup. But I do see him leaving NY. But he should look West not across the river!

At 39, I don't see Shanny having much left in his tank. Maybe he could help a team that is close and needs that extra little bit of experience, or he could help a team with a lot of young players, kind of like an on-ice coach. The Penguins might want to consider him now that Roberts and Malone are gone.

As for NJ, I'm not sure he'll want to be yelled at by a Sutter. I can see Shanahan as an assistant coach soon.

I don't think he'll come back to the West. His game is more fitted to the East style of play now. He may just end up on the Devils squad

Pop on over when the crazy moves start..we got a thread going on Free Agents and Trades

Again, I thought hockey was cancelled as a sport. When did it get picked up again other than in Canada and Russia?!

DC, I like the idea of him going to Pittsburgh. He'd be more of a help than Roberts was in the playoffs. I'd take him in Montreal anyday.

Sure miss the Irish jig music they played here in Detroit when he scored a goal.

After watching the Playoffs, I would think he'd be considering retirement. I don't mean that jokingly, he looked way past his prime to me.

I'm not really sure what the point of your post, or indeed your very existence is. Voltaire once said "merely thinking the world is odius does not make you superior". I would like to translate that to something your far less than fertile brain can understand, and then you can explain it to DEVO or patriotscheated or which ever one of his clever little names he's using now:
just because you sit there and think everything is stupid, it doesn't mean you aren't!

Ironic. Do it Shanny! Unless you're willing to take a diminished role on the 3rd or 4th line.

Bravo Spiny, that was far more cutting than my juvenile "get lost" Hahaha!
