Kings chase Udrih, may shop Artest

The Kings' most ardent competition for Beno Udrih could be the Los Angeles Clippers, who likely will have ample salary-cap room to offer Udrih more than the midlevel and are in desperate need of a point guard. New York also is believed to be interested, and the list most likely grows from there. Ron Artest's decision to not opt out means he will earn $7.4 million in the final season of his contract and become one of the league's most discussed potential trade pieces.

Look out Miami. Riley has always had a seemingly major league hard on for Artest. And with Miami's new found cash flow, thank you PHX for taking dieseless Shaq, the Heaters now have the funds for a new player or two. Maybe a package with Haslem ...

Yeah Locnar, another sf that's exactly what the Heat need. And Haslem is not nearly enough value for Artest. If Artest opts put a sign-and-trade is very probable, maybe to the Lakers (Artest and Thomas/Abdur-Rahim for Odom and Ariza). If he doesn't opt out, I think he will remain in Sacramento and if the season turns out like the last one, he will sign as a fa with another team.

Oops, my bad deadline's already over, so no sign and trade. I think he will stay then.

They are always able to do a sign and trade... I could see Radmonic, Walton getting dealt this offseason

I hope the Rockets trade the useless T-Mac for Artest.

Ron Artest is still playing basketball??

July 1, 2008  09:41 AM ET

Since when is signing Udrih a high priority on anybody's list?

July 1, 2008  11:00 AM ET

I think Artest will be playing elsewhere next year. And I think he may actually behave.

I think he'll be a good back-up on a good team. His stock rose because he got tons of playing time in Sacramento and a starting role. He even put up good numbers. He'll get a nice amount of money somewhere.

July 1, 2008  01:02 PM ET

he was pretty good with sactown and i think he can only get better

July 1, 2008  01:16 PM ET

The Los Angeles Clippers and in particular Elgin Baylor seem to get worse with time. Every point guard in the draft with the exception of Rose and Westbrook was available at number 7. If they felt they were in "desperate need" of a point guard, why didn't they draft one?

July 1, 2008  08:40 PM ET

the clips definetly shoulda drafted a pg..
now to biz at hand..

I think a trade with udrih and artest to NYC is been talked about for like a year or so...that Lee guy over there i think would be the main piece coming back..

of miami did something I think it would be a sign and trade involving maybe ricky davis or haslem...on the other hand even with beasely cam miami afford to lose a forward ? they are puny..lol but they do nd a point..Udrih again..

McGrady makes way too much to trade for artest..

Dallas should swap out Howard for him... trouble for trouble I say lol...but prolly not..

then theres phoenix ...what about diaw /barbosa for artest Udrih...good for both squads...

just a thought or 3
