Several clubs with scouts following the Rockies say indications they have been given are Colorado will decide at the All-Star break whether to deal players. The Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Phillies, Rays, Cubs and Cardinals are known to have interest in left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes. An Oakland source says Fuentes is not on the Athletics' wish list, but they would kick the tires on Matt Holliday but more likely would be involved in discussions for Willy Taveras. Holliday has also has drawn interest from St. Louis, Tampa Bay, the Angels, Dodgers and Kansas City.

Could they fit any more teams in this rumor, well yes I guess they could have, but then noone would take this seriously.

today must be woodwork day b/c the T&R are coming out of it....I always thought the stories were set by 10am EST.

I'd love to se both Fuentes and Holliday wearing the birds on the bat. Rasmus, Anderson, Mather and Stavinoha should get it done. Give Pujols some steady protection in the lineup and boost the bullpen. Ankiel, Schumacher, Holliday and Ludwick is a great outfiled for now and the near future.

Same story, different day....ZZZZZZZZ

July 1, 2008  11:12 AM ET

Can you imagine the impact that Holliday could have on the pennant race? How would he look batting after Pujols?

July 1, 2008  11:18 AM ET

He'd look like Luis Sojo. He's Vinny Castilla reicarnated.

July 1, 2008  11:24 AM ET

You guys are right......Holliday would look GREAT with the Birds on the Bat, hitting behind Pujols....... we can only hope......

amen. I'm always wary of any player that has played only in Colorado. Humidor, Schmooidor....its a hitter's park.

July 1, 2008  11:44 AM ET

OK, you're right. I just checked the home and away splits on Holliday. Let's hold out for Jason Bay instead.

July 1, 2008  11:49 AM ET

Might as well be Chase Utley. OH YES, I WENT THERE!

July 1, 2008  12:04 PM ET

chase utley is SWAHELIE for Roller Coaster. Up and down, up and down. He's hot, then he's cold. his inconsistency is scary.

July 1, 2008  12:17 PM ET

Yeah, I'd prefer Bay.......

July 1, 2008  12:38 PM ET

How can you even think of trading holliday?

that would be a disgrace to the franchise and to baseball

Obviously, you havn't been watching him close enough. Just because he was in an 0 for 24 slump last week doesn't mean he's inconsistant. You look at great players like A-Rod, who has had his share of slumps and 0-fers over the years, and you see that it's something that all players go through. Utley isn't among the league leaders in major offensive categories for nothing. He's got an amazing work ethic. So what if his batting average has been a little shaky lately? He's still sluggng a whopping .610, good for 5th in the majors. Check your numbers next time you try making a crazy assumption like that.

As for the Phillies and Fuentes, he'd be a nice pickup, but they need to pick up a starter, not a reliever. Their bullpen ERA is great, not so much for the starters.

July 1, 2008  01:03 PM ET

hey bonzo...my post was a bit of a jest, not a crazy assumption.

I'm fully aware of the slumps that all players are prone to. Utley is the star on my fantasy team. While he was carrying me a few weeks his recent slump has been killing me! As a Yank fan i know full well of the prolonged slumps that guys like Arod and Abreau can get into. when they do, other guys have to step up. Great players like this will get their stats...

No way should the Cards give up Mather, Rasmus, Anderson, Stava. We have finally got a good AAA tream, no need to tear it apart on someone that could walk at the end of the year!

July 1, 2008  01:25 PM ET

Not again, why in the world would you trade Holliday

July 1, 2008  01:50 PM ET

hank....b/c the rockies stink. any rumors about last year being a fluke are true. holliday appears to be one of the few guys with real value.

July 1, 2008  02:11 PM ET

I think Holliday would look good in Dodger Blue and you can take any Outfielder back to Colorado.

July 1, 2008  02:15 PM ET

Bonzo, take Utley out of that field in Philly and you have yourself an nice 2nd baseman. Want proof? Look at his numbers at home vs the road. I think thats what everyone is referring to.
