RBs warn Brown to slow down

Posted: Wednesday July 02, 2008 06:21AM ET

A mong the most encouraging Dolphins stories has been the accelerated recovery of Ronnie Brown, who is optimistic he will be 100 percent by the start of the season. But other standout running backs who also tore their anterior cruciate knee ligament have been reaching out to Brown with cautionary advice. ''Don't rush,'' said Edgerrin James, who speaks often to Brown. ``You can't go out there expecting to be exactly the way you were in the beginning. Don't let the fact it's starting to feel good let you disregard [rehabilitation].'' Three-time NFL rushing leader Terrell Davis, an NFL Network analyst, also urges Brown to proceed slowly and said Ricky Williams should begin the season as the Dolphins' starter.

Hello. Is there anyone out there?

Report Offensive Comment

if Ricky starts the season as the starter, then he will be the starter all year and challenge for the rushing title... I'm shocked as to how many people out there have forgotten how dominate Ricky can be... and he will be fresh becuase of teh suspensions...

Fonzie...your wrong. Ricky has lost a step and it was obvious in the last
couple games he played as he did ZIP...

Report Offensive Comment

last couple? he got hurt his first game back as someone jsut happened to step on his back when he was laying on the ground. I think Fonzie is right. Reports from Phins camp are the Ricky has been runnin the hardest and looking the best. Trust and believe that Ronnie is rushing back so he doesnt lose his job. I think he should take it easy and let Ricky do the heavy lifting this year.

Dolphins will triple their win total this year!

tee hee, that's funny Tilii.

Pretty sure it was his chest someone stepped on, not back. OUCH !

Ricky will be back, running hard.

Report Offensive Comment

I wonder how Ricky going to do this year

Report Offensive Comment

actually... it was his back.. someone stepped on his back/shoulder which streched and tore his pectoral muscle

Report Offensive Comment

Ricky lost a step and his Jamican buds................

IMO the only real question will be how LONG Ricky will be back. My guess is that it will be just long enough to pay off his debts and get his hands on enough money to buy some dope.

Put Jalen Parmele in!!!!!

I'd like to see Ricky come back and challenge the rushing title his is very entertaining to watch when he's on top of his game... I dont think he can come back after a couple years and dominate the way he has... he's missed so much he's like a vetern back with no expirience

Report Offensive Comment

Well, at least Brown is getting experinced advice, that should at least tell him to take it easy ... if not then he has some problems.

The Dolphins backfield will be known as; Puff, Puff, Pass.

Report Offensive Comment

If he gets hurt, he just smokes dope, so he doesn't feel any pain and can still play...I'd take him in my fantasy draft!

Report Offensive Comment

I think Ricky can at least be serviceable while Ronnie Brown is out injured but pushing for the rushing title is a bit of a reach. I do expect Miami's line to be better this coming season but they still haven't got a balanced offence and opposing teams are going to play the run until they're made to respect the pass. I hope Ricky does well but being among the top few rushers in the league is probably fiction.

I agree with T.D. and plus I want to see Ricky carry that ball!
