The Lakers continue to wait for Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf, but they have fall-back plans in case their restricted free agents don't re-sign with them. The Lakers have talked with representatives of Boston small forward James Posey and veteran San Antonio sharpshooter Brent Barry to gauge the free agents' interest.

Treason!

Posey is the next Horry. He knows where to get the championship even though they were the enemy before. Not a bad move at all. He gets the money and the rings.

Brent Barry?? He'll give you a quality 4 minutes off the bench. Save your money.

I agree

Posey to the lakers creates instant defense and fierce, aggressive offense.

This would be a dagger to the heart of the Celtics. The one they couldn't stick 'em with during the Finals.

If LA lands Posey, they'll make it back to the Big Show.

Boston better not let this happen!

i hope the lakers re-sign turiaf and sign Posey because i cannot stand sasha his defense is not good and even though he improved on his jump-shot he takes numerous bad shots lakers need tough players not defensive posers like sahsa!!!

July 2, 2008  11:30 AM ET

I'll take him...after seeing what he did to the LAKERS!!!
LAKERS should take him, big tall defender and great 3 point shooter. He is a great piece to the puzzle!

July 2, 2008  11:33 AM ET

Posey would be a nice addition to the lake show!We need tough defenders. But I wont get my hopes up.

July 2, 2008  11:59 AM ET

I mean posey is a nice player........
but Shaq + Wade = championship
and Garnett + Allen + Pierce = championship

posey is like a jack in your hand of four kings

- yeak I know you need role players..........I'm just sayin he's not going to bring LA a title with his presence alone

but it definitely doesn't hurt.

Forget Barry.

I was actually relieved whenever he got the ball.

He may be able to shoot a free three once in a while but he's got no ball handing or defensive skills.

Hey Hey Hey now be nice

Barry makes no sense at all, The Lakers did not win a championship this year period but without Sasha Boston would have been celebrating their championship in LA, If we can't get Artest, Posey will mos def work but that not going to happen anymore thtan KG to LA last year. No way Boston/Mchale/Ainge/Larry Legend do anything to help a Lakers team.

July 2, 2008  02:11 PM ET

well looks like LA learned their lesson in the finals. if they get posey they are the clear title favorites

July 2, 2008  02:12 PM ET

It doesnt have to make sense any more its the NBA. Didnt you get the memo?

I dont know about that the Celts are just one year older. It will surely help a lot, but it won't make us the "clear" title favorites. But hey, it won't hurt, right?

July 2, 2008  04:45 PM ET

Barry won't go to LA. His fam is not moving from SA and that means Houston, Dallas or back to SA. Plus the Lakers can't afford anyone with their Lux tax.

Hey CEL you guys should be glad to get rid of him, it frees up more room to get younger.

I also see that that Spurs are making an offer to Cory Mag, of the Clips.
Now he's an excellent, strong and young player.

Good luck !

"I also see that that Spurs are making an offer to Cory Mag, of the Clips.

I wouldn't say he's 'excellent'
he's simply not bringing you a title home if he is your # 1 or #2 options

I know he's been a clipper for a while- but he's only made the playoffs ONCE in his career......
that's simply not acceptable.
if you are THAT GOOD you at least get to the playoffs
