Teams scouting Rockies talent
Several clubs with scouts following the Rockies say indications they have been given are Colorado will decide at the All-Star break whether to deal players. And there are several players on the Rockies that teams are interested in. The Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Phillies, Rays, Cubs and Cardinals are known to have interest in left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes. An Oakland source says Fuentes is not on the Athletics' wish list, but they would kick the tires on Matt Holliday but more likely would be involved in discussions for Willy Taveras.

Yeah, and after seeing Holliday's stats away from Coors, I don't want to see the Birds pay much to bring him to St Louis. Just Fuentes......and we could give them a pick from a number of good prospects.

Matt Holliday would look lovely standing out next to the Green Monster.

Let Holliday go wherever...........the Cards should make a strong play for Bay if the Pirates try to move him.

I know people are skeptical because Holliday has played his home games at Coors, but this guy is twice the hitter Bay is.

I agreed with you ntil I checked his home and away spits. He's an average hitter at best away from Coors field.

You're right that his numbers go down, but he crushes the ball. Imagine him in Fenway, or Cincinnati, or Houston, or Wrigley...

So how do you think he'd do as a Cardinal?

Yeah he could just be a home player.
Anyone else notice that both this year and last Lohse's ERA doubles on the road? Holliday may be the same.

It's the way Ankiel was last year when he came up, but he's evened it out this year

Wow, I just looked at Lohse's numbers this year......I knew he was much better at home, but opponents are hitting .218 against him at Busch and .337 on the road........ wow. Morris had some years like that, where in the POs, you only wanted him to pitch at home.

TenRingsSTL, he'd be great as a Cardinal. Remember when Walker came to the Birds a few years back? I believe that worked out okay. And Holliday is in the prime of his career.

Don't you think?

I think Holliday could definitely work out in STL, and yes, I remember well the impact Walker had. Walker, though, was a force and was productive before going to Coors, whereas Holliday has never played anywhere else. I think Holliday has the same type personality and work ethic as Walker though, and I think he would be a great fit in the locker room as a Cardinal .
I am always a little concerned about the Coors effect, but I do think Holliday could be a force in STL, especially batting behind Albert.

I'd like to see him, but I wouldn't risk trading valuable prospects simply because he has consistantly performed much worse away from Coors field.
Lifetime away from Coors
BA - .277
SLG - .450
OPS .790
All very ordinary and no better than any of our current outfielders.
Lifetime at Coors
BA - .363
SLG .656
OPS - 1.083
Numbers better than Pujols' lifetime.
Too bad he could only play 4 games a year in Coors for us.
