Rodgers tries to explain Pack fan rap

Aaron Rodgers is typically known for unique analysis of his teammates, descriptive explanations of the offense and for backing up Brett Favre, verbally and literally. That's why the Packers' new starting quarterback's comment in a Sports Illustrated magazine story is all the more intriguing. The magazine asked Rodgers 'whether he feels pressure to connect with the fans the way Favre did.' "I don't feel I need to sell myself to the fans," Rodgers responded. "They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut." Reached by telephone Tuesday afternoon, Rodgers wanted to immediately clear up any misunderstanding with the team's fans.

"They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut."
lol. sure everyone in all the stadiums will be nice and quiet when you are on the field. going to be the longest rookie season for a qb thats waited the longest to be a starter.

rodgers is about to snap mentally like joe theisman's leg.

July 3, 2008  07:36 AM ET

This guy is going to come completely unglued if things get tough for the Pack. I see a major meltdown in his future...should be interesting.

July 3, 2008  07:48 AM ET

Yeah, but he still can't be any worse then Alex Smith

July 3, 2008  07:48 AM ET

Just show them Favre's last pass, that should shut them up..

July 3, 2008  07:55 AM ET

If only it was that simple Aaron.

July 3, 2008  07:59 AM ET

He needs to follow Tony Romo's example of how to handle the pressure of taking over the reigns of a storied franchise.

July 3, 2008  08:06 AM ET

It's simple.....cheeseheads are idiots.

July 3, 2008  08:06 AM ET

Hooah05!! .....Romo followed a long line of mediocre to bad QBs and used to be good QBs on mediocre to bad teams. Aikman had been gone long enough for the fans to not compare the two. A better comparison is the QBs who have had to follow Elway.

Does Rogers look and act more like Brian Griese or Bubby Brister? I do not think Brister ever said anything close to what is attributed to Rogers.

July 3, 2008  08:38 AM ET

aaron has got to understand to keep HIS mouth shut a lil more even tho what he said is true. but i think the kid can handle it. he seems to be ready to take over the team. but as someone mentioned if he doesn't live up to billing they will run him out of town with the quickness

July 3, 2008  08:44 AM ET

I would love to see Farve come back and play for the Vikings.....then get his **** handed to him by the cheeseheads.

July 3, 2008  08:52 AM ET

"Pittsburgh is done"...doesn't your middle school start back soon where you live?

July 3, 2008  08:57 AM ET

C'mon Aaron. The NFL sorely needs successful young QB's.

July 3, 2008  09:03 AM ET

I fully agree with Rodgers' statement. Packer fans (I'm one) that haven't moved past Favre need to either get with the program & the team of THIS year and stop living in the past.

July 3, 2008  09:04 AM ET

I would like to see Farve comeback for the Vikings....and win the Superbowl and watch a whole state commit suicide. Happy cows come from California.

I doubt Rodgers said it like that. I really hate the media. Lets try to create a villain in a town the most beloved athlete there retires and then spread rumors that the other guy will comeback, it will make for a good story.

Who cares what he said. I dont give a rats ****. Its true what he is saying dont suck his **** later on if he does well. Either like him now or the hell with them

KCMAC, statewide suicide would be more likely if he went to the Bears....however you got a point with the Vikings...the Vikings is where old Packers go to pasture.

Wisconsin is such a beautiful state. Too bad the folks that live there are drunk and stupid.
