It's Knicks or Magic for Duhon

Chris Duhon is expected to make his decision today - and it's down to the Knicks and Orlando. With a two-year, roughly $6 million offer from the Knicks in hand, the Bulls backup point guard and his agent Kevin Bradbury met with Magic brass in Orlando yesterday, with Dwight Howard making an appearance to help the recruiting. Duhon has become Donnie Walsh's lead candidate in his modest free-agent point-guard hunt, searching for a playmaker to compete with Stephon Marbury for the starting slot. (Marbury is in no danger of being waived.) Walsh is only willing to go two years as he eyes getting under the 2010 cap. Walsh only offered Duhon slightly more than half the annual $5.5M mid-level exception. The Cavaliers and Kings expressed interest but it doesn't appear Duhon will visit.

If he wants to win, he goes to FLA, if he just wants $, he goes to NYC.

July 3, 2008  07:31 AM ET

shouldn't the knicks be trying to get out of contracts?

July 3, 2008  08:11 AM ET

Does anyone like Duhon? Think he's a good player? How about you Chi-town?

July 3, 2008  08:24 AM ET

the knicks are lost. there has got to be better a back up available than duhon.

July 3, 2008  08:57 AM ET

this guy is a handy cheap backup end of discussion - why even bother

OfCourse he'll go with the $$...winning and Duhon??

Why in the hell would the knicks want Duhon. I can not kill the knicks for the 6th pick, even though I would have gone with Randolph from LSU. I also don't think a PG was the Knicks most glaring need.

I want to believe the Knicks are headed in the right direction, but let's just say I am concern!!!!

Marbury, Nate and Crawford are better then Duhon from a talent standpoint. Only knicks haters would say something different. This is a joke!

Duhon is a decent point. Not a good scorer, but a good ball handler. What he needs more than anything is a good alarm clock or two.

He's baaack. Duhon isn't the answer, but Marbury, Nate , and Crawford are only here by default. If Walsh had balls they would be gone.

July 3, 2008  09:44 AM ET

Orlando is offering him one more year then the Knicks are. For three years at 10 million dollars and a better team, then he needs to go to the Magic.

Liontut is back in the building. Good to see you man.

July 3, 2008  09:57 AM ET

I agree Marbury, crawford and nate are not the answer. However, to answer is not adding a back-up PG that is not better then what you have. That simply!

Can't wait to see the new guy in the summer league. I hope he can play.

July 3, 2008  10:03 AM ET

As a Magic fan, I say we don't need Duhon. He brings nothing to the team that we don't already have. We need a banger to compliment Dwight. not a point guard.

July 3, 2008  10:12 AM ET

Wow !!! What a choice for point guard !!! D.L. Marbury or Chris Duhon I am soo excited I peed my pants !!!

July 3, 2008  10:12 AM ET

Anybody who knows anything about basketball would not take Chris Duhon. He sucks and that's why Chicago fans are more than glad to see him go. The Knicks have enough crap players as it is. What is wrong with Nate Robinson as a backup point guard to Marbury for next year? I don't understand Walsh's reasoning at all.

July 3, 2008  10:13 AM ET

Oh, I would also like to say that I rather play Jameer Nelson 48 minutes than put in Chris Duhon. Don't the Magic already have a backup point guard? Carlos Arroyo?

Like most European players, he's soft, doesn't play defense, and prone to poor shot selection. A poor man's Toni Kukoc. He'll fit right in with the rest of the losers.
