The Nets made a $2.7 million qualifying offer to restricted free agent Nenad Krstic last week and are said to be interested in trading the 7-foot forward if they do sign him. Krstic is reportedly looking for a two- or three-year deal.

sign and trade to whom? the incheon black slammers of the korean basketball league? the armani jeans of the italian league? your local ymca reg league team?

July 3, 2008  07:57 AM ET

are the nets planning on starting brook Lopez and yi jianlian at the same time or is one coming off the bench

July 3, 2008  09:08 AM ET

i like nenad... tore the acl and taking longer then expected to make it back... but if he regains form, and lopez develops, along with Boone, those are legit 3 big men nets could use! Not too many bigs with his skill sets!

July 3, 2008  09:09 AM ET

After trading RJ , I thought the argument was to build a nucleas around Yi and Kristic. If they trade him, what exactly is the plan to attract LBJ or wade or any other superstar??? They have enuf money, they want to win...Nets have gotten this all messed up; They'll only have Carter chucking up 3-pointers on one leg

Is this the team that is owned by a gangbaning rapper?

Nice, a league of gangbangers now have teams owned by gangbangers.

July 3, 2008  09:54 AM ET

With Yi, Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, Josh Boone, and Williams (I forget his first name), Kristic is definitely on the outside looking in. If the Nets can find a taker they should sign and deal him.

July 3, 2008  10:17 AM ET

I like Krstic, but he is injury prone and soft as hell. He definitely has some perimeter skills and he can rebound when he is healthy. I would probably just get rid of him at this point. I don't think he will develop into a solid NBA player. I like Yi, Lopez, WIlliams, and Boone for next year. See what happens.

July 3, 2008  10:17 AM ET

i like nenad... When he recovers to full form, he is a legit double-double guy.,..
But if we can get a 3 point shooter for him.. we gotta take it

July 3, 2008  10:17 AM ET

It depends on what they can get for him. If they can get a first rounder for the oft-injured Kristic they need to do it.

I think the Nets are going to try to get Bosh, Wade, and LeBron in 2010. Watch them firesale Vince Carter next year. The Nets are not going to sign anyone to a long term contract that conflicts with this plan, much less a European coming off ACL surgery.

The Nets sound lost.

the "gangbaning rapper" you are referring to is Shawn Carter (aka Jay Z) and he is NOT a gangbanger and is a minority owner. he is a succesful business man who got his start by rapping. just because you rap doesn't make you a gangbanger. i don't why you are referring to him or the nba as gangbangers based on the behaviour of a small group of individuals. (well, actually i do and its pretty sad). grow up.

Actually- they are just trying to dump salary, pick up young players and see who can develop.
Pretty smart actually-

Thorn's Biggest mistake was re-signing vince....that was DUMB

Nenad is a good player, he is young and very talented, it is taking him a while to recooperate from his torn acl injury, but he is a talented big man for the Nets, along with Boone, and Lopez and hopefully Jianlian plays to his potential. Don't trade him unless a good deal comes up.

They seem to be preparing for the King James auction. They probably held onto Carter so that James would have at least one player on the team with him.

I think they're going about it wrong. He will not want to come play for an untalented, decimated team. He could stay in Cleveland if that was the case.

Petey024:

Yeah but the move to Brooklyn will spark his interest, even if his family is still in Ohio. He would get so much coverage worldwide that's it's gunna get rediculous. I mean, what if all these young guys pan out in a few years? Then they have Lebron, Lopez, Devin Harris. and that is the most talented 3 people on the team imo. So he would have a very good pointguard, compared to Delonte West now. and he would have a good, fundamental big. That's what you need to go deep! All he would need is his 2nd-fiddle (Carter? who knows) and he's pretty much all set. Doesn't that sound attractive for Lebron?

"He will not want to come play for an untalented, decimated team"

I agree- that's why I said the nets want to give their yougsters a chance to see what they have......
I think Harris is going to be a quality player.
If 1 or 2 of the other 'kids' even turn out to be above average....
lebron won't mind.

And don't forget-
once LBJ comes into the fold.....
much like the shaq effect- other free agents will WANT to come
to try and play for a ring.

Don't discouont the JayZ billion-dollar pull

July 3, 2008  01:11 PM ET

what le bron james wats more than anything is t play with a tope level Point guard, if they can offer vince an get some of the young guards that memphis has, it would bea good deal, the bulls are uard heavy and they need nside scoring, may adeal could be worked there, they could send vince and kristic to te bulls, trade gordon, hughes and onemore player if need be...

July 3, 2008  01:20 PM ET

a white Euro/asisan with potential? call don nelson. maybe you will get monta in the trade.

I was responding to the LeBron to the Knicks chatter.

LeBron to the Nets is a real possibility.

I believe they will be in the hunt. They don't need performance over the next two seasons. They don't have the pressure the Knicks have because no one is looking for them to become great again.

If any of their youngsters pan out, LeBron may give them serious, serious consideration.
