More Donaghy damage for NBA?

The lawyer for Tim Donaghy, the disgraced former N.B.A. referee, wants a retired federal agent to testify in court about the information Donaghy provided the government. On Monday, the lawyer, John Lauro, issued a subpoena for Phil Scala, a former special agent with the F.B.I., to testify at a July 9 hearing in United States District Court in Brooklyn. In a letter to Judge Carol B. Amon, Lauro contended that Scala ?"will provide crucial information" about the extent of Donaghy's cooperation with investigators. If Scala supported any of Donaghy's allegations about widespread referee misconduct, his testimony could be damaging to the N.B.A.
