Barca to loan Ronaldinho?

According to Il Giornale, Milan are now hoping to sign Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho on loan. The Brazilian star had been Milan's primary transfer target a couple of months ago, but the deal then hit a snag, and it was believed that there was little chance of it being resurrected. However this all changed last week when Vice President Adriano Galliani stated that plans had been made to build a Milan side with Ronaldinho in it.

For Gods sake, I just can't talk about this anymore...
Oink...

July 3, 2008  09:56 AM ET

If this results in Ronaldinho getting what he wants and we get what we want which is the end of this story, then fine!

Enough with Ronaldinho!

July 3, 2008  10:15 AM ET

Amen!

Another box of twinkies goes missing in Barcelona.

July 3, 2008  10:42 AM ET

A box of Twinkies and maybe a whole case of Pepsi, too. You need something to wash down those Twinkies, right?

July 3, 2008  10:59 AM ET

Pepsi?? he should drink Coke instead, get fat in style!

July 3, 2008  11:00 AM ET

hehe sorry, im from atlanta, we have to bash pepsi any chance we get, its in our blood...and hopefully in Tubbydinho

But a loan to milan seems like it would make everyone happy...except maybe Kaka

July 3, 2008  12:47 PM ET

CU are you kidding, Kaka is dying for Ronaldinho to go there.

July 3, 2008  02:06 PM ET

Seriously every post i've read about his move to milan people have been asking how will he and Kaka get along

July 3, 2008  02:37 PM ET

What's the interest rate on a loan like that? Are there any points? Is it deductible on my taxes?

July 3, 2008  03:09 PM ET

Milan's interested in the loan deal in hopes of making the deal permanent after next season, thus lowering the asking price for Ronaldinho substancially. Plus it offers them the chance to "test out" Ronaldinho with relatively low risk involved. It makes sense from Milan's point of view, but not so much for Barcelona. I just don't see Ronaldinho resurrecting his career in the EPL. So I don't think it's all about the money for Ronnie. If that was the case he would have moved to Man City a long time ago. He wants to play for Milan, the only thing left is to see if he can convince Barcelona to abide by his wishes and sell him for less. For what he's done for the club, (despite his out of form last two seasons) I think he's earned the right to choose wherever he wants to go and Barcelona should oblige him and allow him to leave out the front door in a dignified way instead of dragging this process on any further.

Hard to believe this player is so out of shape he's going to be "loaned"--gotta be a blow to his own sense of self-worth and confidence.. A player once considered the best in the world and still young.... he needs to look himself in the eye and cut out all the Pepsi and Coke (I hear he doesn't have a preference, surprise!) and yes, the twinkies too...

July 3, 2008  06:41 PM ET

D-Wreck, funny you should be talking about weight - aren't you living in the Land of the Fat?

Even a fat Ronaldinho - haha, dream on - would be a better player than ANYTHING YOUR country has ever produced or will ever produce.

July 3, 2008  06:58 PM ET

Wow--that was a low blow. Fanatico, it just depends how fat he gets, doesn't it? A 260 lb Ronnie will hardly be better than a slim and trim Clint Dempsey. Busting on the US to defend Ronnie's careless self-control, nights on the town, and twinkie eating isn't winning you any brownie points with me. For a great player like this to go from a hero to a fat slacker is not anything to blow off with a silly jab at fat Americans. Most Americans aren't professional soccer players but I don't pretend to defend fat Americans fatness. many Americans just aren't very conscious about healthy eating--more reason for Ronnie not to emmulate them! Ronnie needs to pretend that he gives a crap... Get in shape. It would be a shame to lose his skills and talent. Don't mistake my being hard on him for a lack of respect for his ability. You should see my critique of American players....Not all pleasent either...

Is that Jar Jar Binks?

July 3, 2008  08:38 PM ET

Meesa gonna get loaned!

July 3, 2008  09:04 PM ET

DWreck - "careless self-control, nights on the town, and twinkie eating" - all this from a press, no? Do you believe ANYTHING they say nowadays?

If you haven't witnessed it - don't proclaim it. Newspapers have to be sold, so the stories get created to SELL these newspapers!!!

Ronaldinho is sooo overrated, he is better known for his Nike commercials (which have him standing around dribbling balls) instead of his futbol matches (where he stands around, period).

MurraysLaw, if things were not screened here, I'd have a few choice words for you based on your deep knowledge of the game and its players.
