Teams looking to Royals' Mahay for relief

Lefty reliever Ron Mahay is drawing plenty of interest from contenders seeking to bolster their bullpen. He improved to 4-0 and lowered his ERA to 2.13 by pitching two scoreless innings Monday night when the Royals rallied for a 6-5 victory over the Orioles in 11 innings. The Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, Marlins and Rays are all known to be shopping for relievers. The Yankees made a strong run last winter to sign Mahay as a free agent before he chose the Royals.

He's a cheaper version of Brian Fuentes.

I'd take him in St Louis in a heartbeat. Anything is an improvement over Ron Villone and Randy Flores.

Detroit being a contender is yet TBD...

I know I was feeling stressed until I saw that picture of Mahay above. What a relief...

"The Yankees made a strong run last winter to sign Mahay as a free agent before he chose the Royals."

Sounds like someone doesn't want the pressure of pitching for a contender.

Or.....maybe he just didn't want to pitch in NY

Once again, the Royals aren't looking to trade away talent. They are serious about building a winning team. I don't look for them to trade any talent unless they are very deep in that position.

I hope you are correct about that..... I'd hate to see KC start unloading talent. As I've said before on these threads, I don't think they are far away, andn KC deserves a contender.

Detroit trade for Mahay? Seriously? did I miss something or did my club just get to .500 the other day? What would we trade to the Royals?

Who makes the BEST catcher's equipment?

Oh yes, NIKE does.

Thanks T&R for keepin it real.

His record and low ERA look good, but he walks a lot of batters at the wrong time....at least he did when he was with ATL last year.
