Rockies listening to offers for Torrealba
The Rockies have told catcher Yorvit Torrealba they would be willing to listen to trade offers for him since he has lost his starting job to Chris Iannetta. The problem is finding a match. Torrealba, who has not demanded a deal, has approximately $5.3 million remaining on a two-year contract signed last winter. The Marlins, who open a four-game series at Coors Field tonight, are seeking a veteran catcher and pursued Torrealba as a free agent. "I am not playing every day like I want to, but I feel like I am taking advantage of the opportunities I am getting," Torrealba said.

What a difference a year makes. Last fall, the Mets were pursuing this guy. Now, his own team doesn't want him.

Good, get him outta here. Iannetta would be an All-Star this season if he had been the every day guy from the outset. Torrealba is good at blocking balls, but he can't throw anyone out, and he can't hit, except for a few games a month. He knows how to handle a pitching staff though. Iannetta is just a better player.
