Celtics not counting on Brown
Posted: Saturday July 05, 2008 08:40AM ET
The last time Danny Ainge talked with P.J. Brown, the veteran power forward said he wasn't coming back. So the Celtics are now treating Brown"s career as a dormant, not dead, issue. "Whatever P.J. wants," Ainge said. "He knows that we'd love to have him back, but he has to want to come back. "But I'm not counting on it," Ainge added. "He's 39 years old, and he has a nice family. He was a great contributor in our winning, but he said he doesn't want to play."

Goood for you Brown. You came back and accomplished what you set out for. Enjoy with your family.

Report Offensive CommentIT'S LOVELY....Tricking-off a 24-point lead to lose and getting blown-out by 39 points precludes me from finishing that sentence. HA!

Report Offensive CommentBrown is one of the players that has done well with his money, and doesn't have to "work." He came back this year because he saw the opportunity to possibly get a ring. At 39 years old, I can fully understand if he doesn't want to play.

Report Offensive CommentHe'll probably do what he did last year, where he'll wait till after the All-Star Weekend and glance at the standings to weigh his options. He'll join a team two months before the playoffs and get a ring for his "troubles."
Cassell and Brown = Ringwraiths

Report Offensive CommentIf they're keen on getting veterans looking for a second chance, Try Shawn KEMP, Latrell SPREWELL or Allan HOUSTON.
How about Karl Malone?
He's should have no fitness issues..... Age maybe?
