Celtics not counting on Brown

The last time Danny Ainge talked with P.J. Brown, the veteran power forward said he wasn't coming back. So the Celtics are now treating Brown"s career as a dormant, not dead, issue. "Whatever P.J. wants," Ainge said. "He knows that we'd love to have him back, but he has to want to come back. "But I'm not counting on it," Ainge added. "He's 39 years old, and he has a nice family. He was a great contributor in our winning, but he said he doesn't want to play."

Goood for you Brown. You came back and accomplished what you set out for. Enjoy with your family.

Brown is certainly replacable.......
if I were Boston though- I would CONFIRM one way or another if he's coming back so they can move on...........
I mean he's not Brett Farve-

He got his well deserved ring . they need to get some youth and solid bench players , enjoy retirement

July 5, 2008  11:18 AM ET

The question remains:

What can Brown do for you?

July 5, 2008  11:26 AM ET

IT'S LOVELY....Tricking-off a 24-point lead to lose and getting blown-out by 39 points precludes me from finishing that sentence. HA!

Brown is one of the players that has done well with his money, and doesn't have to "work." He came back this year because he saw the opportunity to possibly get a ring. At 39 years old, I can fully understand if he doesn't want to play.

lol

He'll probably do what he did last year, where he'll wait till after the All-Star Weekend and glance at the standings to weigh his options. He'll join a team two months before the playoffs and get a ring for his "troubles."

Cassell and Brown = Ringwraiths

If they're keen on getting veterans looking for a second chance, Try Shawn KEMP, Latrell SPREWELL or Allan HOUSTON.

How about Karl Malone?
He's should have no fitness issues..... Age maybe?

July 6, 2008  07:23 PM ET

how was he a great contribution he was crap

July 6, 2008  09:29 PM ET

PJ Brown had a very good career and if he wants to leave, good for him.

July 7, 2008  09:18 AM ET

I understand why he doesnt want to come back..He's old by NBA standards and I guess he wants to go out on top..Now if he comes back midseason, hmmmm?

*Goes to wikipedia and look up Shawn Kemp* Where is he anyway?

Can't see why he would want to come back really.......he's got his rings.
