According to a Fox Sports story, the Los Angeles Dodgers have contacted the Pirates about the availability of shortstop Jack Wilson. The Dodgers, given an opening in the National League West by Arizona's slump, want to acquire a shortstop in the wake of back surgery for their shortstop, Rafael Furcal, who will be sidelined for eight weeks.

Reet petite, indeed. Make the move Jackie!

Dodgers need a lot of things. Nomar just came back, but uhh...yeah.

July 5, 2008  11:47 AM ET

They should trade Ivan De Jesus to Toronto for Burnett, Eckstein and a plus prospect, that will fill the hole at SS and give them another starter

we should leave nomar at short and make the trade for matt holliday which is what we need... more power. nomar was an all star at short so why cant he at least play a decent short

July 5, 2008  02:46 PM ET

For God's sake, cant the Dodgers realize that yeah why might need a ss, but what we really need is bats. How long has it been sinc the Dodgers have the same problem, no hitting? It sucks cause I fall in love with them every year, and then I get cruched before August.

July 5, 2008  02:49 PM ET

jack wilson...seriously. yeah thats what the dodgers need. another mediocre shortstop. why trade for something already have in adundance, overrated players. its time dodger fans call for colletti's head.

July 5, 2008  02:54 PM ET

For God's sake we need hitting. How many more years are we gonna have the same problem. Yes, we need a ss, but what difference is it gonna make if our leader in HR is probably gonna have about 25 at the end of the year. If they make the playoffs, swept again???

July 5, 2008  02:58 PM ET

I agree with you Ricluvin, Colletti has done nothing more than build our expectations at the beginning of each year, but always the same at the end.

July 5, 2008  03:55 PM ET

if we can pay andruw 18mil per, we can acquire holliday for prospects. that would send us over the top for sure. he can come in and bat 3 or 4. sabbathia is an ace but pitching has never been dodgers problem

July 5, 2008  07:15 PM ET

...hmmm...too bad we can't trade andruw for Holliday...

July 5, 2008  07:38 PM ET

Get the hell out of Pittsburgh while you can!!! Take the first offer thrown your way!

July 5, 2008  07:45 PM ET

See a ghost, did he?

July 5, 2008  08:31 PM ET

Well the dodgers have now sunk to a new low !!! Jack Wilsom - OH COME ON !!!!!!!!!

July 5, 2008  08:58 PM ET

Go after Holiday for power. Wilson should be an easy trade, come on, its Pittsburgh. I bet they would take a case of new baseballs, a few bats, some stickum, and a Joe Torre autograph for Jack Wilson....

July 6, 2008  12:06 AM ET

Dodgers not intersted in Wilson. They just dicking him around.

July 6, 2008  07:03 AM ET

if you need a ss and are not concerned with a good average, low power hitter... wilson is a very good defender but not a lot of pop in his bat. i hope he goes elsewhere if the pirates do trade him as it's dodgers blow, not blue.

July 6, 2008  11:36 AM ET

As long as the Dodgers don't mind a SS with good fielding but meh in batting then Wilson is their man. Though I don't know if the Bucs will trade him, because when he was hurt it was apparent in the field how bad the Bucs need him in their quest to be average.

July 6, 2008  03:43 PM ET

But the Pirates don't care about average... they can't even make it there in 15 years...

L.A. needs Jack Wilson like I need a haircut.
