New England Patriots receiver Randy Moss knows other professional athletes have come and gone through the NASCAR world during recent years. So it doesn't surprise him that some doubt his commitment as a Truck Series team owner. "I am used to that," Moss said Thursday. "I have been doubted my whole life. I am up to the challenge." Moss bought 50percent ownership in Morgan-Dollar Motorsports. The team is now Randy Moss Motorsports. "I have been a fan just from watching the guys and the energy they bring,' said Moss, a West Virginia native. "I just met Dale ( Earnhardt) Jr. for the first time and I felt like a kid." Willie Allen will drive the No.81 " Moss' NFL number " in its first race under the new name at Kentucky on July19. Co-owner David Dollar said the team would like to run for a title next year. Moss, who is black, said he doesn't see race as a factor.

Randy, tell the guy sitting next to you he'd make a good nose tackle.

July 5, 2008  09:01 AM ET

The guy next to him is married to Jenny Craig.

July 5, 2008  10:13 AM ET

Moss likes trucks because he can wipe out more meter maids with a truck than with a car.

July 5, 2008  11:06 AM ET

He already looks likes Fred G. Sanford!

July 5, 2008  11:10 AM ET

He probably bought it because he's bored

July 5, 2008  11:32 AM ET

This is all a mistake the guy sitting to Randy in the photo above is Mike Holmgren , He's signing a contract in Seattle .....

July 5, 2008  02:06 PM ET

The guy on the right looks like Andy Reid's twin brother.

Randy Moss is actually a friend of mine and I can't for the life of me understand why he is doing this. Most NFL guys pour their money into surer things, like owning racehorses.

Maybe he likes the fact that NASCAR is a billion dollar enterprise, and the horse tracks are all suffering. He'll be a good NASCAR owner, as he is a decent guy and a stand-up friend. His field shenanagins lend a certain amount of dislike factor, but the guy is just an incredible player. Besides, he can't stay in football forever, and NASCAR could use some fresh new owners and its always looking for more money. It is an expensive hobby.

As they say, if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it. Randy doesn't have to ask.

To much money, its like Tyson buying 2 white tigers

July 5, 2008  03:21 PM ET

Wow, what is the importance of mentioning Randy Moss is black in the last sentence? Who would be reading this who doesn't know that? If the article was about minorities in sports, bringing up race would seem organic and appropriate. The way it's mentioned is just awkward...

July 5, 2008  03:24 PM ET

Money magnet! How do I get in on this deal?

July 5, 2008  03:37 PM ET

Who gives a F if Randy is white or black? He looks so funny with his new buddy on the picture above... I hope there is a future article about them being seen as best friends who love their sport. BORING!!!!!!!!!!

July 5, 2008  04:18 PM ET

Who's black? Yoda? I thought he was green!

July 5, 2008  04:27 PM ET

I think MrMyyabunchofidiots is right. Yoda was green.

Why did Randy Moss buy a 50/50 partnership in Truck Racing? To make money, of course. Haven't you heard? It takes money, to make money. If you throw money at strippers, or buy champagne to spray on strangers, or pay someone off to keep yourself out of trouble, you're just throwing that money into the toilet.

Good for you, Randy. Smart money grows. Diversify. Get Met, it pays.

"Haven't you heard? It takes money, to make money. If you throw money at strippers..."

Yes, I have thrown jighead after jighead at untold stripers in Clear Lake, Iowa and time after time I have dragged half-pounder after half-pounder out of that lake until I think there is no One-pounder in the whole damn lake. But then one late evening I threw out my jig-head bait and "BAM"!! There she was, a 2-pound striper on the end of ****, fighting to the left.... then fightin to the right..... then shooting off to the center of the lake like a mad flaounder!!! Oh, rest the rig on my belly, and reel the damn lunch in, says my grandma!!!

What a great woman she was! She taught me so much.....

Where was I? Were we talking about football, or Brett Favre? What a great July!! What a great day in Iowa!!! Golley!!

July 5, 2008  05:16 PM ET

Oh my goodness!!!!!! Randy Moss is BLACK!!!!! Another incredible bit of investigative journalism from SI!

July 5, 2008  08:34 PM ET

"RANDY MOSS HE'S OUR MAN IF HIS CAR CAN'T WIN NOBODY'S CAN" !!!!!

July 5, 2008  08:54 PM ET

"he is an incredible player' Yep, he really tore up the field in Oakland.

Why did he allow David Dollar to own half the team? He should have brought Creflo A. Dollar in as his partner.

July 5, 2008  09:33 PM ET

because he's a hick.
listen to him....
