Recently retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. accused HBO's announcers of bias against him and other black fighters. Mayweather, a 31-year-old Olympic bronze medalist, was critical of the boxing announcers but not the network. "They talk about Kelly Pavlik, a white fighter, like he's the second coming. Or they go crazy over Manny Pacquiao. But I'm a black fighter," Mayweather said. "Is it racial? Absolutely. They praise white fighters, they praise Hispanic fighters, whatever. But black fighters, they never praise." HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg said in a statement that the network was disappointed to hear of the boxer's remarks and denied his claims.

Ya, I laughed when I read this. It's the fact that he's been one of the least gracious, arrogant, self-centered champ we've seen in a long time. I'll take Lennox's or Oscar's demeanor over Pretty Boy's anyday.

Case of "biting the had that fed you"

Floyd, Manny is Filipino, an Asian. He's not Hispanic. So stop talking about racial bias and all that stuff. It's getting old. Besides, Manny just might read this and may want to knock your baby-whining self out.

Yeah, they really **** fighters. Mayweather is a great boxer but he's even greater at talking straight out of his ****.

Mayweather is a little spoiled biznitch... I wish the Big Show would have broke him in half by accident during that WWE thing a few months ago

Just shut up a***ole. Mayweather is a whiny pr**k. How many hundreds of times do we hear announcers talking about some black fighter being the best pound for pound in the world? Almost all the time! What's Maybaby going to do next..bring in Sharpton and Jesse to lead a protest?

I have no idea about bias but Mayweather, go to UFC, fight BJ Penn, I would pay a lot to see you get destroyed!

People don't go all that crazy over Pretty Boy Floyd because his fights are garbage. All that dancing around like a faerie, pitter-patter punches, and no action lead to no love for you. I hated Sugar Ray Leonard cuz he did that same trash, but at least it was only for the last 10 seconds of a round, and the previous 2m50s he was getting his **** whooped to make me enjoy it (Marvelous Marvin won that fight, BTW).

Only thing that HBO is guilty of, and all of boxing in general for that matter, is hyping up the next big white guy. The Great White Hype.... but that's a phenomenon of all media, TV or print, and definitely isn't HBO specific. Tommy Morrison was a great fighter to watch, he deserved his attention. Baby Joe Mesi was garbage, and I'm from Buffalo, he didn't deserve anything. And the Klitschko's are great fighters too... not that many, but those that got it, deserved it.
