NASCAR backs off unlimited testing

NASCAR most likely won't allow the Sprint Cup teams to do unlimited testing, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Director John Darby confirmed today prior to the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Darby met with crew chiefs last week to ask them to think about what the testing rules should be. Currently, teams can't test at tracks where the Cup series races except for during the scheduled NASCAR-sanctioned tests. At that time, officials said that all options were on the table, including unlimited testing. The idea of unlimited testing sparked debate in the garage over the cost for teams.

I hope they stick to this and not change their minds again. The bigger $$$$ teams still have an advantage over the smaller $$$$$ teams. This unlimited testing would just widen the gap, more than it already is..

Report Offensive CommentThe topic is dumb so I will speak my mind on something else. Kyle Busch does immature things that rub people the wrong way. His talent however has won over my respect. He slowed down and went to the back on purpose because he thought something was wrong with his car and raced to the front and won. That my friends is why I love racing. If Scott Riggs would have done the same thing I would have been equally impressed.
I love a genuine display of talent no matter who it is.

Report Offensive CommentAsbel, I have to agree with you, although I still cringe when I hear his name.
Kyle has been winning, I'm sure he has talent,I believe Luck has been on his side.
Having said all that, I still don't like the guy.
Watch out for JR., He will come on strong as the season wears on.

Report Offensive CommentAsbel; You have to admire the driving ability of KB. Like you mentioned he dropped from 3rd to 37th after Hamlin tagged him. Then the march to the front and he has done this before. I think Gibbs has talked to him behind the wood shed a few times. He does seem to showing a little humility and patience. Look at the amount of time he spent just stalking Jeff last night. He never was willing to just tuck behind another car and stay there like he did last night.

Report Offensive CommentNASCAR needs to go to unlimited testing - no one can cite ANY cost savings from test limits, not even crew chiefs can cite any such savings. Testing limits were the biggest single mistake in NASCAR history.
