Brewers waiting on Sabathia
Brewers general manager Doug Melvin waited Saturday to see if his offer for Cleveland left-hander C.C. Sabathia would be accepted by the Indians. "Mark said he'd be in touch with me," Melvin said, referring to Cleveland general manager Mark Shapiro. "I'm sure they've got to think through everything." Even with their No. 1 prospect, Class AA Huntsville outfielder Matt LaPorta , thought to be included in the offer, the Brewers hadn't been able to get the Indians to say yes.

The Indians won't say anything until they see what the Cubs and other teams are willing to give up for Sabathia. Do you think they're stupid?

Wrong. Like I said yesterday, the Brewers (and everyone else) are waiting for the official word from Brian Cashman on whether or not the Yankees want him. Only then can other teams get serious about C.C.

Do the Yankees really have the prospects to make this trade? I don't see it.

Dear Brewers before you pull the trigger for C.C - remember the "COLOSSAL MISTAKE" the Mets made in this past off season !!! Just a "heads up" for you !!!

why give up great young talent --when you can just wait till season's over and out bid others for him without losing players. pretty dumb to give up talent when you an get in the off season. indians are not going to re-sign him.

seems pretty dumb to trade young talent for a guy you can get in the off season!! (3 months away) it's going to take a lot of money to sign him,so if a team is going to do that-wait till season's end.save your talented players. indians are not going to sign him.

Maybe you get him in the offseason, maybe you don't.
Also, if you give up prospects now, and Sabathia signs elsewhere, you get high draft picks as compensation.
Not so dumb, Hermie.

So we get Sabathia stories twice a day on T&R now? Great.

The Indians sat on the Brewers offer long enough to see that no other team was willing to pay that price for a 3 month rental. Is your mind so large you can't see the little facts in the papers?

It's far better to ASSume one of the most respected GM's in the business will trade away his top pitcher without making sure he's gotton the best deal possible.
He checked with every interested team between the offer and the acceptance. Read the papers much? It's all out there if you care to read it.
