The Wolverines are thin at receiver, at linebacker, at the offensive line and the defensive line also. Did I miss any other positions?

If you aren't a Michigan fan, this might be news to you. If you are a Michigan fan who follows the team then you already knew this since January along with being thin at QB and OL and at newly minted position slot receiver.

It will surely be a very roller coaster ride for UM and it's fans this year.

It'll be interesting to see how long RR is a "golden boy" at UM given these shortages.

A serious question - how much of this shortage is due to past years of poor recruiting, and how much of this is due to a total change of the offense by RR, meaning the players he has there aren't capable of running his offensive scheme?

Who cares. I'm sick of Ohio State and Michigan acting like they are SEC teams. They might be known for getting in trouble, but they play in a powder puff conference

Warden-While all college football fans will be watching the USC vs OSU show down, the game that I find just as intresting is the Mich. vs ND game. Both games are important but for obviously different reasons. If OSU wins against USC then they have paved the road to another title game-as a Mich. Fan all I can say is wow! With Coach Carr at the helm, Michigan's football program was sinking. If Coach Carr was having difficulty winning with the likes of Hennne, Hart and Mr. Long(not to mention the above players Manningham and Arrington), then this year's results would have set the program back even further under Carr's leadership. To Coach Carr's credit, he did go out in style(He saved his best game plan for Florida). With Coach Rod, the tone has been set for "were rebuilding" for a new style of offense and defense, the likes that many Michigan Fan's have never seen, yet alone in a Michigan Uniform. The program will not be measured in wins but in the progress they make over the course of the season. This is why I believe that the ND vs Mich. game is so important. For ND this is a "must" win for Charlie and CO.. Should Mich. win with a new coach and a newly implemented style of play(not to mention a make due team)-all hell will break out in ND country. This also sends a message to recruits considering ND-"the program is sinking" and big Charlie is not the answer. A win over ND will put alot of Mich. fans and alumni at ease with our new coach and style of play. I admire Coach Carr for stepping down, He put the Michigan football Program ahead of his ego. Go Blue---GO BUC's

how is this even a story... if you've even remotely followed Michigan since Carr retired than its pretty obvious, and not a big deal

This is news? Hell we (UM) fans have known this for awhile and I venture to guess the rest of the country did also. Must be the boring time of year for college football writers, re-cycling old news. In my opinion the game of importance is the 1st of the season, Utah. If Michigan gets stung again like they did with Appy. St. it will be shades of last year all over again, but this time Michigan will not wind up so good with the 9-4 record like the "07" season.

It may be darkest just before the dawn for the UM program. There is plenty of talent still in that locker room, enough to handle Florida last year. Some teams may take them for granted (like N.D.). By the time my Bucks get to them on the schedule, we'll know.

Yawn. This is hardly news. They've got a lot more to worry about besides their receiving corps. As for river1075, I'm not sure why you would say ND might take UM for granted? That doesn't make any sense, particularly given the history between the two schools.

Then again, you are a buckeye fan, so logic and sound reasoning aren't your strong points.

1979: Who wants to be an SEC team?! Don't flatter your self. This is the BIG 10. And this "powder puff" conference has played with the SEC the last 10 years, just look at the records.

And talk about getting into trouble. That is one category where the SEC certainly leads the BIG 10.

They aren't thin. They have depth, but they just lack experience at this point. Greg Mathews is the #1 receiver, but there are many options behind him including Junior Hemingway, Toney Clemons, LaTerryl Savoy, and Darryl Stonum. Plus a four star next year in Bryce McNeal.

NE Ohio - the only time that an SEC and Big 10 team play each other fairly (ie play in the same descending order of ranking within their respective conf.) is when one of them make it to the big game- and #1 big10 meets a beat up #1 SEC. As far as trouble, Ohio St. (especially since Tressel took over) and Mich (check latest headlines), are well know for their issues.

Has the reality of your 3-9 hit you yet? Yet, you criticize other fan's reasoning. I'm not surprised. I went to the '06 Fiesta Bowl game and talked to a ton of ND fans. You guys were cocky. Not only would you easily win that day (versus Ohio Stae) but it was pretty well concluded that you would win the NC the next year and Brady Quinn would win the Heisman. After all, you had the "genius" as coach and you are Notre Dame. Of course none of those things happened as OSU wiped the firled with you!

1979: Oh I see, you have to make up a new set of rules to try and justify your comments about the SEC. The interconference records are what they are. I can slice and dice the facts to make the BIG 10 look better than the SEC if you like, but that is BS.
