Miles making a comeback?

According to the Boston Globe, Darius Miles recently worked out for the World Champion Boston Celtics and had an "impressive" showing. From the story: "An NBA source said the Celtics surprisingly worked out Blazers free agent small forward Darius Miles yesterday and he had an impressive workout. Miles missed last season while recovering from knee surgery." This has well-chronicled implications on the Blazers: if Miles returns to the NBA and plays in 10 games in a season, during either of the next two seasons, his salary will count against the Blazers' salary cap. The team is responsible for paying the remaining $27.25 million of his Blazers' contract, but it does not count against the team's cap because his knee injury was labeled career ending.

I'm feeling a little sick right now.

July 7, 2008  07:56 AM ET

I thought they named the D league after him...

July 7, 2008  07:57 AM ET

Potential with out a purpose. This cat was like Odom. I used to have a high opinion of him. Now I hope he can just recover and do something.

July 7, 2008  08:09 AM ET

Why is everyone laughing about this? Before his injury, he averaged 14 points and 5 assists per game.

July 7, 2008  08:29 AM ET

i did not know that they had great POT in boston

July 7, 2008  08:49 AM ET

he got hurt and missed a year???? I didn't notice.

July 7, 2008  08:50 AM ET

Ha, the contract is ridiculous, funny they would have to pay him but it won't count against their cap. I'm not surprised he tried out for the Celtics, he must still idolize KG.

Another reason why making kids wait a year after HS to go to the NBA is a GOOD thing for the league

he would've NEVER have been drafted that high........
therefore would NEVER have been given such a large contract afterwards based on his 'potential'

I agree with jgb..These kids used to come out so early and a couple of them arent playing anymore or was a fluke(i.e. kwame brown)..I hope Darius does well.

At least you know if he played in Boston he MIGHT actually start to have a decent career, OR be gone QUICKLY. He could not be the selfish, desruptive and ineffective player he has been since he has been in the NBA if he was on the Celtics.

I hope Boston signs him, if he is healthy although I dont like the guy. I like to people ressurect their careers from the trash heap.

July 7, 2008  09:22 AM ET

I didn't realize he was even still around. Well I hope he can fully recover and start to build on his career. Good luck to you Darius.

July 7, 2008  09:28 AM ET

A great career has passed him by.

July 7, 2008  09:39 AM ET

It shouldn't take long to find out whether this is something to be concerned about or not. More important than his knees, are serious character issues. But he's only 28, and may have experienced some maturity in the last 2 years. Being that he's due to make another $27 million, he doesn't have to work. It's possible he's there because he wants to be. Let's wait and see.

This is Vin Baker on a comeback.. bad knees... pot head...inconsistent... sounds good for a championship gone bad... Seems like the Celtics are having an Isaiah Thomas Knicks era moment...

July 7, 2008  10:09 AM ET

I never pay sttention to age- in these type of players
I pay attention years in the league
he has been in the NBA for 6+y

People don't just change......he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer,
has not been known to have the best work ethic and his game is 100% athletecism

I have minimal confidence he will ever be an effective player in the league.

The price of weed must be going up!

Darius Miles should have honored that St. John's committment.
