Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims that Ronaldinho has rejected the chance to join Manchester City, despite the Premier League side offering twice as much as the Rossoneri. Reports on Saturday claimed that the Brazilian was close to an agreement with City but Galliani revealed that the player has snubbed a move to Eastlands. The Italian confirmed his team are still pressing ahead with their bid for the 28-year-old.

No surprise here. Ronnie had to keep them open as an option and then when he is sure of a deal he can just say no. Man. City had to try something and you can't blame them. I say they've done a great job of trying to get him but have fallen short.

He's just stalling for time hoping for a Champions League team to show interest.

July 7, 2008  11:14 AM ET

Maybe the whole Champion's League thing has his interest peaked... but I'd wager more along the lines of, "waiting for a team in a big party/fashion center like Milan to make him a good offer." Post industrial Manchester I just don't see filling his needs as a heavy Brazilian partyer. He needs his Samba time!

In a related story, Ronaldo accepts Tran City.

Now that Laporta has survived the vote of no confidence by the shirt off his back, it's clear that Ronaldinho will leave either to Chelsea or AC Milan. He would prefer to go to Milan but they can't come close to matching Barcelona's asking price. And Barcelona aren't going to just let him go for nothing, no matter how out of form he may be. A loan deal makes even less sense, because by this time next year 'Dinho will be entering the final year of his contract and nobody, including Milan is going to offer anything substancial for him. By that point Barcelona would be lucky to get 5-10mil for him. So Barcelona need to sell now and stand firm in their asking price. I'm tired of seeing my team selling players for peanuts while paying overinflated prices for players they bring in. It's high time "we" started playing the game like everyone else for a change!

Out on loan. Oink.

July 7, 2008  05:19 PM ET

MLS can afford 5-10mil for Dinho... and LA and NY are pretty good party spots...lol

I say he stays, fights for his spot and goes back to being the world's best...

man i WISH

Jar Jar Binks???

Meesa wanna play for Man U. Not Man City!

Farsa has treated him rather poorly, no doubt. However, any player bent on moving to another top-tier club would not allow these "fat" accusations to go unanswered.

If he had some fight left in him he'd go to Man City, fit, and help that team reach CL or UEFA cup play. Other than that, it does look like - and "does look like" does not mean "is" - he could give a crap.

That, no matter how much money a team might have, is always a huge red flag.

July 7, 2008  06:09 PM ET

Any chance you can stop calling the Farsa?

July 7, 2008  07:58 PM ET

"Any chance you can stop calling them Farsa?"

Given the spirit of unity displayed by the current soccer champions of Europe, in honor of the badass that is Carles Puyol, and in anticipation of the stellar season we all - even us merengues - hope they will have at the Camp Nou; sure. No more Farsa, promise.

I reserve the right to revoke my token of goodwill based on the following conditions.

1. Don't any of you blaugranas even look longingly at Iker Casillas.
2. If you do lure Dani Parejo away from our RM-Castilla, you had better pay top Euro, and I mean top Euro.

Most Barca fans are not space monkeys contrary to popular belief! If Ronnie had shown up on time to practice, practiced with the rest of the team instead of trying out new tricks for his NIKE commercial, and put as much zest into his training and preparation as he does with his nightlife then I doubt the fans would have turned on him so quickly. Most of the criticisms directed towards him have been self inflicted! I've pretty much had it already with all this "Barcelona fans not respecting players" nonsense! At what point do the players themselves take accountability for their actions...or lack thereof!

As far as that goes don't count on it. Despite the appeared "hatred" both clubs have for eachother they have a good working relationship on a professional level. So I doubt Laporta would entertain such a move (even if it has been rumored) the fans wouldn't take too kindly to it either, and the last thing he needs is to alienate even more fans after barely surviving his vote of no confidence. Likewise I wouldn't imagine Calderon doing the same to a Barcelona 'B" player. As far as players on the main rosters that is a different story as we have witnessed over the years.

Thanks Burgundy, though I have to admit, it's even hard for me not to look at Iker Casillas longingly.
