Richard Jefferson believes he and Michael Redd will complement each other in a reshaped Milwaukee Bucks lineup this fall. The Bucks' small forward, acquired in a major draft-day deal with the New Jersey Nets, made his first public comments since the June 26 trade when he was introduced at a Monday news conference at the Bradley Center. "I know the situation I was leaving was not the best one," Jefferson said. "I don't even know if I would have wanted to be in New Jersey, given what they're going to be doing up to 2010 and the move to Brooklyn. I look at everything as an opportunity, and this is a great one."

I think that is the first time the words "excited" and "Bucks" have been used in the same sentence/headline.

July 8, 2008  08:21 AM ET

Isn't that what he's supposed to say?

July 8, 2008  08:56 AM ET

Bringing RJ in does give them a legit small forward who if heathy will give you 18 & 8 a night.
They will be a mediocre/slightly below average team, that if any other eastern team's star get injured could chase a # 8 seed

A week ago, there was an article about how unhappy he was to be traded to the Bucks. He exchanged text messages with Rod Thorn or something like that. I'm glad he is happy now. Get ready to suck it up in Milwaukee. On the bright side, he'll get unlimited beer. I'm sure RJ is really excited to play with Joe Alexander....

GREAT!!! exciting team, exciting basketball...........oh, sorry. he just got out of the breweries when he made those comments

July 8, 2008  09:44 AM ET

I agree...exciting and Bucks don't belong in the same sentence but I like Jefferson...he deserves an opportunity to be happy, regardless of which team it's on.

I love RJ one of my favorite players since watching him in his rookie season in NJ. Guy plays with heart, not the most naturally talented athlete or best basketball player but the guy gives it all every night, unlike wince carter the plague of nets basketball. I wish him g'luck and hope he gets onto a contender cuz we all know that the bucks will never be that.

July 8, 2008  10:28 AM ET

Wow, he changed his tune quickly.......

July 8, 2008  10:30 AM ET

RJ will really help the Bucks and Redd can get back to not being double and triple teamed every game. Should really help him slash and shoot a little more. RJ will bring much needed leadership as well because the Bucks fell apart late in games a few times last year.

I'm glad he's off to Beer Town.. The Knicks don't have to deal with him as much.. and yeah they should trade Carter for future cash considerations...
