Nittany Lions beat Terps to recruits
Maryland has been fertile recruiting ground for the Nittany Lions. They've received oral commitments from six Maryland football players for the class of 2009. Along with Darrell Givens, ranked as a four-star defensive back by recruitment Web sites Rivals.com and Scout.com, and Malcolm Willis, ranked as a three-star safety by the two sites, Penn State has gotten commitments from Eleanor Roosevelt defensive backs Stephon Morris and Derrick Thomas, Oxon Hill wide receiver Brandon Felder and Gaithersburg defensive end Sean Stanley, ranked as a four-star recruit by the two online scouting outfits. Penn State has won most of the recruiting battles against the University of Maryland this year. Of the Nittany Lions' six Maryland commitments, Felder, Givens, Stanley and Thomas also held offers from Maryland.

Just goes to show you that even playing for your home state's team isn't enough. Most kids want to play for a "prestige" team if given the chance.

I'm waiting for some uniformed post about how pathetic it is that PSU beating out Maryland for recruits makes the news.

Anybody else find it ironic that Rich Rod settled today, and the biggest news from the big 10 is a lame PSU recruiting story (no offense to PSU, I find all these recruiting stories lame)? Apparently the Rich Rod saga was only good when it was unsettled....

PS Forever
Ummmm....... hey PS Forever, just food for thought, look at where OSU has been in the last 8 years, & where PSU has been. I think getting kids out of MD is great, but your home grown kids are the ones you should try to keep.
Just saying.

Rich Rod losing his lawsuit is a bad omen for the Crapperines. MU ought to "cut it's losses" like Rich Rod did with his lawsuit, and get rid of HIM.
As a Buckeye fan, I'd like to see a COMPETITIVE OSU/Michigan game for once before I die. :(

In that picture up there, Joe looks like he's pissed off that his nurse forgot to change his diaper, even though he's happy he stole a recruit from the state of Maryland.
He's thinking, "where the frick did my nurse go?! I'm all wet!"

Penn State is a better program in a better location and Larry Johnson Sr. is recruiting Maryland. This is no surprise.
PSU is due for a great '08 season so that should help too.

Maryland is getting to be as good as the old WV-western PENN-southeast OHIO axis. Plus, with things the way they are, this is making the best out of a bad situation. (These aren't even JoePa's recruits.) I hate to say it, but it's getting time for Joe to bust a move. (I still think PENN STATE should make him "coach emeritus-for-life," or something though.)

PSU is doing a decent job recruiting for '09, as they should.
I think this will probably be JoePas last year but it could get interesting if the team is as good as I think they will be.

B-dude - the recent M/OSU games have been competitive (with exception to last years maybe) and JoePa age jokes are tired. I'm willing to bet there won't be a life sized statue of you outside of where you work as a tribute to your success.
