Marlins in market for reliever

With the bullpen's inconsistency an increasing source of frustration internally, the Marlins are looking for relief help but rejected overtures from unsigned ex-Marlins closer Antonio Alfonseca. Florida will need to add a potential closer for next season unless Kevin Gregg (who will be arbitration-eligible) pitches like an All-Star in the second half or Matt Lindstrom improves dramatically. Unfortunately, the Marlins don't have any minor-league prospects who project as a big-league closer, said Jim Fleming, the team's vice president/player development and scouting.

They can trade Hanley Ramirez, Josh Willingham and Dan Uggla for a closer and some other pieces this winter.

and starters.

Yeah. Mozeliak was singing the "Everything is going to be all right" tune last night on the FSN broadcast, basically saying that with Carp, Wainwright and Mulder coming back, he didn't need to add a starter like Chicago and Milwaukee have done. Even if they come back and are effective, it doesn't solve the bullpen issue. Particularly on the left side.

The Marlins will be in sell mode by deadline anyway.
