Arizona considering Bonds

With the Diamondbacks looking for help against left-handed pitchers, one name that has come up is Barry Bonds. "He and maybe a couple of others are sort of sitting out there," said Arizona GM Josh Byrnes said. "I think it's a bit of assessing any players' readiness, then knocking somebody out of the lineup, dollars, etc. I don't want to talk about him specifically, but, believe me, we've considered a lot of options."

It'd be a decent spot for him. Bonds or no Bonds, AZ normally stays out of the spotlight even when things are going well.

The circus would probably be a little more subdued were Barry to spend the rest of the summer in the desert.

I think he'd take a low number just to prove he can still play, and if you could, make the terms undisclosed to protect the huge ego.

i dont think he play the field anymore which he'll have to do in the NL

Like him or not, his bat would upgrade most any lineup. The primary issue is how he his already diminished LF skills would hold up after sitting out for so long.

I still say an AL team should pick him up.

I think you'd pay him well under 10mln, maybe 2mln or less. He'd be playing half a season, and it's not exactly a multi-bid situation, so I think he'd jump at almost anything just to get back out there.

Yeah I think a low base built around incentives would do, but even that may not be necessarily. Just low ball him a one year offer, see what happens and then negotiate.

The thing is, I don't think anybody (outside of the hardcore haters) doubt his ability. He'll hit well if he does get picked up, the only issue will be the chemistry factored mentioned in about 90% of the comments about him going anywhere.
