Despite making about $2.5 million since 2005 as a member of the Bengals, Chris Henry is so broke he wants taxpayers to pay for a record of his trial. "He's broke," said Perry Ancona, the former wide receiver's attorney said Tuesday, July 8. "He doesn't have any money to pay for a transcript." Henry signed a five-year, $6 million contract after being drafted in 2005. He received about $1 million to sign plus an average of just over $500,000 for the first three years. He was to be paid $520,000 this year, but the team released him after his arrest.

It's against my personal philosophy to laugh at the misfortune of others. This story is really making me question my personal philosophy.

Makes me wonder what he did to "earn" his college diploma. Basket weaving?

Maybe somebody should make the uneducated athlete go to a financial class to learn what people do when they have money. Your average person could live for the rest of their lives off what most of these **** make for a signing bonus. The league minimum is a fantastic salary for the rest of us. Idiots.

July 9, 2008  09:06 AM ET

This is really sad. This is what happens when you have this type of ignorant people making all that money. They dont know how to save it, invest it, spend it,
YES BEARDOWN You IS right my friend, send the uneducated athlete go back to school and learn the ins and outs of saving a dollar!

July 9, 2008  09:25 AM ET

It sure is expensive to be a criminal. But why doe he want a copy of his transcript...it's not like he could read it.

July 9, 2008  09:26 AM ET
