Mets looking to add corner outfielder
Over the past seven weeks, the Mets have been plotting that they need to add a corner outfielder. The player they would want most is Xavier Nady, but Pittsburgh only will move him for the kind of significant return the Mets are unwilling to surrender. The Mets have let some teams know that they would be willing to assume some money on a contract if that would lower the prospect price. I reported recently that they like Seattle's Raul Ibanez and I would suspect that San Francisco's Randy Winn also fits the category.

"The Mets have let some teams know that they would be willing to assume some money on a contract if that would lower the prospect price. "
Wouldn't that mean another old no longer wanted outfielder?

I'd love to get X back....but other than cash, the Mets don't have much to trade with. I think Heilman would do well as a starter in a place like Pittsburgh and he needs a change of scenery....but Pitt would want more.

What will they give the Astros for Carlos Lee? We need pitching and prospects.

Carlos Lee is going to be worth to much .. The Astros arent going anywhere though so they shouldnt want more then they would if they were in playoff contention.. but i still think we'd have to give up to much for Lee.. I'd like to see Roy Oswalt in a Mets uniform but he's probably worht more then Lee..so no trade to Houston.. Maybe you could maybe give it a shot for Matt Holliday or just maybee Hunter Pence?

The Giants would be wise to give up Winn if they can get anything at all for him. He's 34, his OPS over the last three seasons has been .720, .798, and .762. Career it is .768. He is nothing more than a serviceable outfielder who is getting paid almost $9M/yr to play on a sub-.500 team.

Winn would be a GREAT fit in NY. He's solid at the plate, in the outfield & in the locker room. Plus he STAYS healthy. And we ALL know the Mets could use that. If they have some minor leaguers with some upside, Omar needs to give Sabean a call,

stop thinking ur hurting ur brain bro Lol the mets had a corner outfielder he's just hurt there not gonna make any big moves knowing they have such a strong bench,if they dont do anything i wouldnt be surprised endy chavez could fill that roll till Church returns.

Why? Tatis is having a great year right now, and Endy can hold LF down if they feel as though Tatis is only good for a fill in. Once Church comes back, move Endy to left, and platoon it with Tatis.
Don't spend your money on position players (except maybe 1st base... Delgado needs to go). The 'pen is a mess and needs a lot of work. Focus on the big problems instead of the small ones...
Omar Minaya is a horrible GM...
