Demitra interested in Canucks

Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison may be gone, Mats Sundin may never come, but the Canucks are getting a nibble, at least, from one unrestricted free agent. That would be Minnesota Wild forward Pavol Demitra, who told a city radio station Tuesday that there's "a good chance" he will join the good ship Canuck. "I think there is a good chance," Demitra told CKNW. "[Current Canucks GM Mike Gillis] used to be my agent for a long time. We are very good friends. I am very interested in playing for [the Canucks]."

Between him and the Sudin sisters this team might win gold at the 2009 ringette championships where theres no contact.

Report Offensive CommentThe headline should say "Demitra interested in not making the Playoffs!"

Report Offensive CommentPlayoffs? Only if he means making the playoffs as a spectator in another city! And .... wait until he finds out who his linemates will be!
The only reason he's interested is because he figures the "Nucks are desperate enough to give him whatever he wants, especially with his former agent now the GM!

Shhhh! The midget is banished from this site (and hopefully from the NHL) forever!

Positive? I guess perspective is everything.
I call it Plan B. Grasping at straws. Appearing to be doing something.
etc.

Report Offensive CommentIf his former agent is a GM, Gillis will probably stay away from him...
Jables and Rage | 07/10/08, 02:21 PM
Report Offensive CommentGillis must not think they'll make the playoffs, so he is only worried about Demitra's regular season production.

Report Offensive CommentOne of my long time friends is a huge Canucklehead.
He is distraught over the status of the Good Ship Canuck. But he is silly enough to stick with them. I'd be dumping them while I still had some pride.
Gillis is in so far over his head it's comical. He's used to asking for the moon for his clients and hasn't learned the words "fiscally responsible" yet in his new job.
Hiring his old clients is not going to get it done.

Report Offensive CommentMr Burke sure did a number on the Canucks. Do the Leafs fans really want him in Toronto?

Report Offensive CommentOf course, he's interested in the Canucks. Who wouldn't be right now? They are in desperation mode and they'll offer you double what you're worth.
