Packers think Favre will retire
Should the will-he-or-won't-he saga of Favre's comeback conundrum meet a messy end in the coming weeks, backlash from fans of the future Hall of Fame quarterback and his longtime team is inevitable. But while Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy acknowledges the gravity of the outcome, neither he nor the man he replaced as guardian of the Packers' brand is expressing belief that Favre will decide to return for an 18th NFL season. "It's a very delicate situation, because he has such a special place in Packers history. No player leaves the game gracefully. It's kind of the nature of what makes great players great, is they're competitors and they always want to compete and they want that next challenge, and it's hard to find that next thing that's going to give you that excitement and adrenaline. That's what we're seeing a little bit here."

One day I'm going to wake up and not see a picture of Brett Favre on my computer. This story is pointless until training camp. Either he shows up or not..

This "Rumor" was taken from an interview with the current and ex team president at a Packer function. All they said was that until they hear different from Favre, he is still retired. Until they hear different, they refuse to speculate.
That is far different from ???Packers think Favre will retire???

Ok enough he said they said and add to the mix Peter King. According to Mr King's article July 10 he states that Brett every year to get ready would throw balls to high school students and other ways to become ready to play. Well this year Brett work on his huge farm and ....opps looks like he got bored. When a player or anyone retires with no hobbies or interests that is what happens. Can he not find other ways to keep himself busy, perhaps work in charity, travel, read. So what is it now when a player says he is going to retire we wait a couple of years until he is sure. If he wants to get back in teach, be an assistant help the young QBs of today. Heck go back to the Packers and teach Rogers how to lead the Packers to glory. You retired....you are wrecking your image to a whining crybaby. One who will hold his breath until he gets what he wants. Sad to say if you do come back I hope you get clocked on the first play of the season....is that what it will take!!!! to stay retired

they should be very accomodating and welcome him back... he only led the team to a 13 win season and almost the superbowl, had his best season ever, was easily the most stable and reliable position on the field (consectutive game streak), is arguably the most popular player in the game today, a sure hall of famer - and all this happened within the last calender year... why would they be in such a hurry to 'move on'... they have the potential to make another title run - RIGHT NOW... isn't that what a franchise is supposed to try and do?...
trade Rodgers and let Farve groom Brian Brohm - who is a better QB than Rodgers was coming out of college...
Somebody out there will give up a first or 2nd rounder for Rodgers...

Well he didn't officially file the retirement papers...so until that he is not retired and is still signed by the Pack.

Every day another Favre article. Ha, Nice Greco-Roman. I have no idea how long the Packers have some of these players under contract but if Favre comes back Rodgers will have to be traded and then if he decides to call it quits next year then you are stuck with an unready Brohm and then maybe your window closes. But, whatever, I don't care anymore. He;ll probably come back during halftime of his hall of fame induction, and take his retired jersey out of the glass frame it will be in , throw it on and then go into the game.

people .. get a life .. until i see brett standing in front of a camera stating he's coming back, i could care less. all you people with great advice for favre probably got cut from your little league team ... besides, all unproven qb's in the nfl should be placed on higher regard than a future hall of fame qb.

I find it funny people come in here to tell us how they don't care or are "sick" they are of these Favre stories. Well guess what you just did idiot, you just added a hit and a comment to a story making it more popular in the eyes of SI.com. The stories that gets the most hits and comments (as the Favre stories usually do) will be the stories that SI will pursue the most.
