Panthers working with Bouwmeester

Panthers general manager Jacques Martin said Wednesday that negotiations between the team and the agent for defenseman Jay Bouwmeester have continued despite Bouwmeester deciding to take the team to arbitration. No date has been set for Florida's meeting in front of an arbiter, with hearings scheduled between July 20 and Aug. 4 in Toronto. Bouwmeester took the Panthers to arbitration once before, getting a two-year contract out of it in 2006. Since Bouwmeester elected to go to arbitration, he cannot sign with another team; Martin said the Panthers aren't going to trade him.

It looks like they'll have a solid D corps this season. Who's going to score though? Somehow i think that Martin got ripped off in trading his franchise player.

Seriously, once they banned the rat tossing, Florida hockey when down the crapper.

They should do what they did to the Cleveland Barons and merge them with another dog.

After giving Bowmeester to Deadmonton to make up for the Chris Pronger snafu....

@ boston Gm That was a totally raw deal for florida ! I don't know what martin was thinking trading jokinen and asking for so little in return .

Maybe John Ferguson Jr. helped him put that deal together !

I think Martin was so pissed at Jokinen that he traded him to a worse place than Florida.
