Nets interested in forward

The free-agent names on the Nets' radar and atop their wish list have been fairly consistent: Keyon Dooling. Eduardo Najera. Some who were up front are going elsewhere, like Mickael Pietrus and Roger Mason. And there have been other names that have been in the background. Yesterday, one of them came to the forefront: Jarvis Hayes. "It's close," Hayes said of a possible deal with the Nets. "There is definitely some interest there. And interest here. I can't talk too much about it." Hayes, a 6-8, 228-pound small forward, is considered a good shooter, an average at best defender. But he would give the Nets some more of the perimeter scoring and experience they seek.

Not the most extravagant 'wish list' I've ever seen.
It's like a kid who only wants a note-book and a pair of socks for Christmas.

way to set the bar high. nothing like setting sub standard levels of performance and struggling to reach even those.

July 11, 2008  06:50 AM ET

i think that all that needs to be said about this topic already have been said

July 11, 2008  07:08 AM ET

they should trade marcus williams and brook lopez for shawn marion

July 11, 2008  07:34 AM ET

Yawn....right on vaughn9....

July 11, 2008  08:38 AM ET

Yoda that was the perfect analogy! LOL!

July 11, 2008  08:54 AM ET

Another classic example of thinking small. Why not make a run at Artest. If that doesn't work, these guys will still be available.

July 11, 2008  09:21 AM ET

Nice wish list!! Also see the grimace on the coach's face in this pic, as if someone's shoving this wish list up his a**!!!

The Nets will have a hard time signing Petraeus- he just got promoted to General of Middle East Operations by the President.

I would do that deal in a heartbeat. I don't think the Heat are stupid enough unfortunately. Marcus Williams can be a starting PG in the NBA and Brook Lopez could turn out to be a solid NBA player. Marion would fit in nicely with my new look Nets.

July 11, 2008  10:31 AM ET

And oh yeah, the guys on that list aren't worth a ****. Why bother?

July 11, 2008  10:33 AM ET

Jarvis Hayes? Really?

July 11, 2008  11:37 AM ET

This is more "treading water while waiting for LeBron" type stuff. I don't like it.

July 11, 2008  11:42 AM ET

treading water till lebron signs with the knicks

July 11, 2008  12:19 PM ET

seriously..... why even spend 5$ on rif-raf ?

The nets ONLY move they should make is trying to unload Vince

Actually the cavs have a boatload of expiring contracts, they might be interested in taking Ms. Vince Carter along with his skirt. NJ would suck anyway with or without VC. Then in 2010, LeBron can swap the team :-)

July 11, 2008  12:40 PM ET

I would've said Rod thorn is the best GM in the league....
but the re-signing of vince was an AWFUL mistake-

I think though he'll find a way to dump him
there'll be a team that needs some scoring come mid-season playoff run-
or some crazy owner (cuban) who thinks he'll sell tickets for him.

Actually- as impossible as it would be-
probaby toronto would fit him well-
Or maybe even orlando

July 11, 2008  12:41 PM ET

heat fan just shut up with ur dumb trade ideas...

lebron would make the team alot better

July 11, 2008  01:00 PM ET

the heat should trade haslem for pierce straight up, and maybe get dwight howard for ricky davis (or so heat fan would say) starting lineup:
C Dwight Howard
PF Beasley
SFMarion
SG Pierce
PG Wade
comming of the bench: Heat Fan??s Mother
NOW THAT IS A DEEP BENCH
drop dead heat fan
