Kenny Perry spent last week at a golf course, but not in the conventional manner for a PGA Tour player. Perry owns Country Creek, a public course at his home in Franklin, Ky. Taking a break from the Tour, he worked behind the counter and helped get out the carts. "To me, that's relaxing," Perry said. "That kind of gets my mind away from competitive golf." Refreshed, Perry returned to action and continued his hot streak. He shot a 6-under 65 during the first round of the John Deere Classic at the TPC at Deere Run. He is among a group of four at 65, one shot behind Ken Duke and Charlie Wi.

Azinger might be too lost in space to know it but this guy will probably be the U.S.'s biggest asset in September.

"Taking a break from the Tour?" "Competitive golf?"
Golf is already supposed to be the hobby.
