Raiders running back LaMont Jordan, who Oakland is actively shopping for a trade, visited the Lions recently according to Jordan's agent Alvin Keels. Jordan was held out of Raiders minicamp in June as the team has actively been trying to deal the running back.

The Bears and Eagles should look at this guy. The Bears could use a veteran that has produced in his career to either back up Forte or to start. The Eagles could use a Good backup to Brian Westbrook. I like Westbrook, even as a Cowboy fan, but they need someone proven. They have a Stable of unproven or hurt RB's.

Why trade for a guy and gain a huge contract? When you can wait for him to be released. That way you don't have to give up a draft pick or player and sign him to a contract of your choice.

I think he is 28 or 29.

He is due $4.7 mil. this year and is 30 yrs. old....I would think the Raiders are tight against the cap after throwing big money around in FA. He can still play, just got to wonder if he priced himself out of the market..No way do they pay him that kind of money after drafting a RB in round one..

This guy should be put out to pasture!

looks like he has Craig " Ironhead " Heyward's melon on those shoulders.

Lamont was actually having a decent season last year until he got hurt. Fargas replaced him and did just as well, and Fargas comes at a much cheaper price. He could still be a valuable back for somebody though.

If he is washed up, oft injured and overpriced, Millen will be salivating to add him to the Lions. Remember, Matt Millen is the worst GM in the history of sports.Yes even worse than Isiah.

For the love of sports, Fire Millen and take that high school coach with you.

Who's Lamont Jordon?

July 11, 2008  12:08 PM ET

Mr Beepo is correct - Millen is the absolute worst of all time. I thought Randy Smith was bad when he tanked the Tigers, and years back, Ned Harkness turned the Red Wings into the Dead Things. Lions maintain a half-century of wretchedness with Millen, who must have something on the Ford family. Do they really think he's suddenly gonna get it? If the guy is overpaid, under-motivated and over-rated, Millen covets him. Absolutely clueless and hopeless. Such a beautiful stadium to be without an NFL team.

He would be a good fit with the Lions...

July 11, 2008  03:06 PM ET

'Actively' trying to deal him?
Isn't that kind of redundant?

July 11, 2008  04:16 PM ET

he could stll do a decent back-up job for sum1 but not for the money he's on.

July 11, 2008  05:58 PM ET

JORDAN is a good player, but the Raiders got to make some changes. The backfield is already crowded since they drafted McFadden and resigned Fargas. Something has got to give.

Raiders needs to beef up both the offensive and defensive lines.
You win games in the trenches...Raiders can't win if they can't protect the quarterback and stop their opponent's running game.

Millen will probably sign him for 10 years at $8 million a year. Then play him at wide receiver.
