Teams lining up for Rockies closer

With the market for starters thin, there's growing buzz that Rockies closer Brian Fuentes will be the next pitcher traded this month. Sitting in the visitors dugout Wednesday at Miller Park, general manager Dan O'Dowd said there was nothing brewing, if you will, at the moment. Tampa Bay has been the most aggressive team pursuing Fuentes, followed by the Yankees, Mets, Cardinals and Marlins. O'Dowd is working from a position of leverage. "We just have to let this play out," he said. "There's still a chance we might not do anything." That's unlikely for several reasons. Fuentes is arguably the most attractive and versatile reliever available ? he can close, set up or work exclusively against lefties. Also, Manuel Corpas has finally steered back on track, rediscovering his slider to complement a nasty sinker.

Nothing, if the y can put the words Yankees, Mets, Cubs, Red Sox, Mets, in an arcticle, or any number of these names...they figure they have a winner.

Keep him for next year...next year....next year....isn't that the ole Gator Mantra?

i think the rox should keep brian although he would look great in a yankee uniform. he would be better than farnsworth, ramirez or jose veras in the 8th inning and would help rivera who has many 2 inning apearances lately

Cards need to pick him up now. Then we can let Izzy walk or trade him.

Izzy can't walk - his hip and knee are gone.

Fuentes could be a big piece of a contender's bullpen down the stretch.

I think the team which would gain the most from picking up Fuentes is Tampa Bay especially with the questions about Troy Percaval. The only thing if they want him do it now before the Red Sox and Yanks pick up more ground !!!

Get this through your heads people. Not a single team in the NL West will pull the trigger on anything until the final hour. The division is so so bad that every team still is alive. Think about it, the Colorado Rockies... How'd they end up last season after where they were in the summer in that division?
