Lightning GM on way out?

General manager Jay Feaster, a major component of the Lightning's 2004 Stanley Cup team, is in the midst of negotiations that could lead to his departure from the organization. It was unclear whether it will be through buyout or resignation. But it seems reasonable Feaster, with three years left on a contract that pays between $800,000 and $900,000 a year, will be compensated. An announcement could come as soon as today. Feaster's duties have been greatly reduced since the sale of the Lightning to OK Hockey, and his name has been conspicuously absent from player personnel announcements.

Barry will be running the show.
He does have an advantage though, As a commentator, he has a good idea of most of the league now, so he's also part scout!

Apparently, the new owners are already talking about winning the Southeast divison next season... a little early for that kind of talk, guys.

I don't believe prediciting victory in the Southeast is exactly a stretch.
Let's face it, I'd bet if all of us regu;ars got togwether and practised a bit, we could compete.

Spiny... yeah, still a weak division, no doubt. I'm hoping th Caps past season wasn't a fluke and they come out strong this year.

I actually thought the Caps put it together pretty well at the end of the season. Still not sure about the goalie situation though.

Who knew mullets were so common?

If they buy out the GM, will that be called Feaster Money? (okay, a real bad pun stretch....)

Who's the new GM going to be? The owners?

July 11, 2008  03:24 PM ET

Most likely. If they are already doing the job causing their GM to resign they might as well keep doing it (think Jerry Jones of the Cowboys).

As we speak, Barry's mullet is in contract talks to take over as GM.

They are caught up in a few key issues tho. Apparently they cannot agree on what brand of hair gel to use.
