Junior not looking to buy DEI

Dale Earnhardt Jr. wanted at least 51 percent of Dale Earnhardt Inc. last season before he opted for a fresh start at Hendrick Motorsports. If the company were up for sale now? "I don't mean this in a bad way, but I would not have any interest in purchasing it," Earnhardt said following Thursday's first practice at Chicagoland Speedway. "I would not have any interest in purchasing any race team, just to have the ownership." The subject was broached because of an Internet report earlier in the week that claimed DEI owner Teresa Earnhardt had commissioned the investment banking firm Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. to locate a buyer or financial partner. DEI president Max Siegel refuted the report, saying the company is not for sale.

You know, I can see his point, besides why should he have to buy, what should have been his to begin with?

July 11, 2008  08:15 AM ET

And even if he were, I don't know what value remains in DEI anymore. If he was in a hurry to throw away $130 million, I could send him my home address.

Just sounds like DEI has no leadership and does not know what to do. Menards might end up being their only sponsor, and we all know why that would be.

Why is it that Teresa Earnhardt commissioned the investment banking firm Bear, Stearns to locate a buyer or financial partner. Didn't they almost go bankrupt before Goldman Sachs came in for the last second rescue?
Who the hell is advising this woman?

I thought I read yesterday that Menards father was looking at taking his money backing to another team, maybe Joe Gibbs, I'll have to go back and look.

Here it is:

and Paul Menard???s wealthy father John is reported talking with Ford???s Jack Roush apparently about moving his financial NASCAR stake there, presumably with Paul Menard driving a Roush-Yates Ford in 2009.

Thanks Floatman. Hate seeing Dale's race team fall apart like this.

Scratch one potential buyer

Turfman - everyone hates seeing this happen and I am a big Dale Sr Dale Jr fan but you have to call it like it is.

I hate saying it but the truth of the matter is this is all Dale Sr's. fault in an indirect manner. Now of course he didn't know he was going to pass on but he should have changed his will long before that to make sure the company was put in Dale Jr's hands. Sr had stated that Jr was to be his successor when he left the business. Now he didn't think it would be so soon but he should have changed the will anyways.

I think Max the Widow Humper is buzzing in her - Ear
as they roll over at night.

All kidding aside It is a shamw to see this happen to
something Sr started

I am glad that JR isn't going to buy her out... he needs to continue working on JR motorsports and working on his own thing.

Seymore Whowho You are next

You are inciting trouble to get a response
from people to get them in trouble.
You have been warned.

The smartest thing Dale Jr did was get out while the getting was good. DEI is a sinking ship...from all appearances...and he is in an infinitely better situation at HMS. He doesn't need DEI. He will have his own JR Motorsports footprint to build his legacy.

July 11, 2008  09:34 AM ET

Jr. wanted to be in a family type atmosphere and he's got that at Hendrick. He's more than happy to continue down the track he set to drive when he signed with HMS.

I am starting to think the same thing.
Jr could also be feeling a little Recked about how this all went down.
Dad should of updated the Will, and the witch just turned her back and spit in everyones face.
Earnhardt SR. If your listening, time for the INTIMIDATOR to find a Exterminator!
No wonder she never shows her face at the track!

The paint scheme is CAMO not Rainbow, if that is what you are insinuating!

Unfortunately I have to agree with Buttman (hopefully the only time I'll agree with someone using the name buttman).

Indirectly this was Dale Sr.'s fault. Everyone knew he wanted the team passed on too his kids, mainly Dale Jr and Kelly, I'm sure Taylor would have gotten something out of the deal too when she was old enough. His relationship with Kerry was a little more interesting, so I don't know what Kerry's role with the team would have been.

He unfortunately never made the intnetion known in writing where it counted.

I had often heard people say that she was the driving force behind Dale Sr's empire. She may have had the basic ideas, like marketing Dale Sr's image, but I think the last couple years have proven who the real genius in the marriage was and it wasn't her.

Agree w/most of you -- JR Motorsports in Jr's venue now ... stick with it. Don't bailout the she dog that wouldn't provide you a chance to be part owner in the company your father started. If she has so much business savey then explain to me why all of a sudden she is seeking outside help/investors. As far as Menards -- if I were Smoke I would seriously pursue his $$ ... and lastly, this is for Low & Odor (Fum under cheese?) just what is your goal in life? Do you really have a clue what you want to be when you grow up?
