Four players join DL, alter trade market

No major trades went down Thursday, but the landscape of the midsummer trade market shifted slightly. The 15-day disabled list claimed four players -- Dustin McGowan and Vernon Wells of the Blue Jays, Erik Bedard of the Mariners and Mark Mulder of the Cardinals -- prompting a chain reaction in front offices from Toronto to Seattle. The Blue Jays have been insisting they aren't sellers, but after losing Wells and McGowan, it won't surprise other teams if general manager J.P. Ricciardi decides to start seriously considering inquiries regarding A.J. Burnett. The timing of Bedard's injury makes it uncertain whether the left-hander will get enough innings to demonstrate his soundness to interested teams before the deadline to make trades without going through waivers passes.

Step on up folks...Give me a few draft picks for AJ Burnett and I'll even sweeten the deal with a classic Roberto Alomar bobblehead doll.

We'll trade you Mulder and a couple of 10th round picks. What do sy?

Mulder is done. Horrible trade looking back at what we gave to get him. I am glad we won the series but Haren would easily be our number 1 or 2 guy if we still had him at a lot less of a cost and far more reliable.

What da he77 is this thread talking about? We're winning, so why would we be sellers? We'll make do w/o VWells & get out of the cellar!

Blue Jays need to get rid of the trash and focus on next year. Something ain't quite right there.

I don't see how Mulder's injury effects anything. The Cardinals certainly weren't counting on anything from him. Anything they would've gotten out of him would have been a bonus, and his return to the DL won't cause any panic in St. Louis.

Well, i believe we have pretty much did our spring clean up already, which should of been done a few years ago! and that was getting rid of gibbons! Was not a fan of his play. Very inconsistant in the offence part of it all!

I say lets see how AJ pans out, even if we do lose him, we have that hefty 11.25 mil a year to spare on another 3rd or 2nd string starter! he is coming around! lets try and get another 20 solid starts out of him. Give our club a chance to win! we cant lose anything really. No one will give us anything valuable for him!

Is there any optimists around?? The jays took 2 of 3 from the Yankees with a fill-in outfield, and a back-up 2nd base - Things will only get better !!
