Royals likely holding on to Guillen

There was a report that the Royals had inquiries about slugger Jose Guillen after his latest flap, a clubhouse run-in with pitching coach Bob McClure. The Royals, per club policy, aren't saying anything about trade reports. However there is no indication they want to trade Guillen who, after a slow start, has been giving them the middle-of-the-lineup bang they bargained for when they signed him to a three-year, $36-million deal. The Royals like his production although they'd like fewer rants and incidents. The club will talk trade about almost anyone but Guillen isn't likely going anywhere this July.

Yes, fewer 'flaps', 'rants' and 'incidents' are always a positive.

They knew they were getting a hothead who throws 3-4 tantrums every year. They shouldn't be surprised at all by this.

Here is that 'middle-of-the lineup bang' he's had over the last 15 games: 0 HR/5 RBI/4 R/.172 BA. Don't get me wrong, I like the #'s he's put up so far this season, but he's already had two 'incidents' that have been publically known in only his first 1/2 season with the Royals.

Next week he shows up on the Mets.

Good, I hope he does show up on the Mets and helps nuke their clubhouse again. Frackers are gettin' too close to my Phils.
