Desperate Yankees looking at Sexson
The Yankee problems against lefty pitching are so dire that they will meet in the next day or so to determine whether to make a play for Richie Sexson, Hardball has learned. Sexson was released Thursday by the Mariners and will clear waivers on Saturday and anyone could have the plummeting slugger for as little as the pro-rated minimum -- which is less than $200,000 for the rest of the season. Sexson was dreadful last year and even worse this season, hitting just .218 with 11 homers and 30 RBIs, which moved the Mariners to just release him even though they still owe him about half of the $14 million he is making this season in the final year of his contract.

For that kind of money, the Yankees or any other team really have nothing to lose.

Don't the Yanks already have like 17 DH/1Bs? What the hell are they going to do with Sexson?

Just what the Yankee's need another overpaid under performing player. Crashman I hope you have enough sense not to sign Sexton. I don't want him on this team if he was playing for FREE.
