The Angels knew Kelvim Escobar probably wouldn't pitch this season; their hope now is that the veteran right-hander can salvage something from 2009.Escobar elected Friday to undergo surgery to repair a shoulder tear, a procedure that could sideline him until the All-Star break next season.

He will be missed and I hope he can off the surgery successfully. I have this deep fear that Kelvim will end up like Bartolo Colon did. Lets hope not!
Go Angels!

I wonder if this will force the Angels to re-sign Garland at the end of the year.

I hear ya, AngLakPak

Yeah, this is the way Mulder started.

July 12, 2008  04:23 PM ET

Get out a fork. He may be done.

July 12, 2008  04:54 PM ET

Might as well get Lasik while he's at it.

July 12, 2008  05:12 PM ET

He does wear some butt ugly glasses.

July 12, 2008  06:11 PM ET

Least he doesn't have designer eyebrows like your Molina catcher, CardsFan2...

July 12, 2008  06:38 PM ET

I hadn't noticed anything about the eyebrows; but, you can't miss the glasses Escobar wears.

July 12, 2008  09:19 PM ET

Yeah the Angels have some optometrist. What about K-Rod's? The doctor may as well pass out those old military style glasses

July 13, 2008  01:06 AM ET

So if he follows Mulder's formula, the Angels can count on 3 horrible starts in 2010 and about 30 pitches in 2011?

July 13, 2008  02:44 AM ET

That mulder deal makes me laugh so much. Don't feel to bad, the a's got waxed on the Hudson trade. Oh **** but I forgot. How good is Danny Haren? Whoops.

As far as pitchers are concerned, nothing's worse than what the Dodgers have done over the past few years. As far as the Angels pitchers and their optics, it's a Dominican thing!

It took a while; but I guess Arizona will be the big winners of the entire processl. Billy Beanne doesn't do nearly as well picking position players as he does picking pitchers.
