Marion interests Clippers, Warriors

With Shawn Marion and the Heat expected to resume contract talks shortly, several teams -- including the Clippers and Golden State -- have expressed an interest in acquiring him. The issue, though, will be whether any offers will be more appealing than keeping Marion long-term or allowing his deal to expire next summer to sign Utah's Carlos Boozer. Although Pat Riley said he wants to keep Marion, Miami's first offer wasn't close to Marion's wishes.

If the Clippers get him, watch out!

July 13, 2008  09:27 AM ET

watch out for what??? Marion couldn;t get the job done w/Nash, Amare, Barbosa and co...what's he goin to do with Kaman and Davis??

The heat has a decent team now, I am not sure if he should leave to another team now..

But of course, the heat would prefer Boozer more then Marion..

and the Clippers would take either.

he is funny to watch shooting the ball a cross between Bill Cartwright and shooting granny style. good defender though. bet heatfan has some dumb trade to bring up.

The only way Marion gets the new contract he covets so much is via sign and trade with another monster contract in return. There are not many of those around the league right now that belongs to asset "on sale"...

I like how the heat have gotten Marion's value pretty high. They traded an aging Shaq for him and all of a sudden, people are saying if someone would trade shaq for him, his value must be pretty high. He's actually undersized, and not 5 in any one position. Top PF: Tim Duncan, Bosh, Brand, Amare Stoudemire, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowizki, Rasheed Wallace, and I could go on. At SF: Tracey McGrady, Lebron James, Paul Pierce, Caron Butler, and Carmelo to name a few,

However, look at this ranking of players in the NBA, and somehow since the trade, miami has made people rank Marion higher than even DWade. (then again, they have Andre Igoudala ranked higher than Wade too.) http://www.nba.com/media/fantasy/cheatsheets.html. So Miami needs to get what they can for him right now before his value drops to what it rreally should be. If clippers interested, make them trade Baron Davis for him or get Magette for him. With how high Marion is ranked, this means we could probably get rid of Blount's contract too especially since both the clips and gs are pretty decent as far as cap. Then trade Haslem and Banks for (i know this is one sided but Heat need bigs) Kwame Brown and Darko. Two unprovens for a proven and tough Haslem. A sacrifice, but the we just need big men who can rebound a little.

I know ahung

July 13, 2008  12:23 PM ET

I bet the suns wish they could take back that trade

July 13, 2008  12:23 PM ET

Shawn Marion is a great player but it seems no one wants him

July 13, 2008  01:09 PM ET

Boozer is better than Marion and Ak is better than Haslem. That trade only helps the Heat.

July 13, 2008  01:30 PM ET

dj rox alot, why would the jazz trade boozer? they don't plan on letting him go in free agency next year and they have a team that will compete for the championship right now. haslem and marion don't offer them anything they don't already have.

July 13, 2008  01:33 PM ET

heater, marion is better than caron butler and rasheed wallace not to mention a better defender than anyone you listed, with the exception of bosh maybe.

July 13, 2008  01:40 PM ET

rusty ur nutx!!!! Butler and Wallence is better then Marion Period!!! Let me put it this way If the Suns would of had Butler or Wallace with the lineup they had they would of won a championship!! Heater is right Miami has convinced the whole league Marion is better then he is !!!!!
